Embracing a legacy of rich history dating back to the 15th century, Hodelpa Nicolas de Ovando Hotel is located on the first paved road of the New World, Calle Las Damas, in the heart of Santo Domingo’s historic Zona Colonial, designated a UNESCO Heritage Site. Comprising three stone houses and courtyards built in 1502, the historic building was the very first to be built on the country’s colonial land and the home of the town’s founder and first Spanish governor of the Americas, Nicolas de Ovando, and his companion Christopher Columbus.

We really enjoyed our spring stay for a destination wedding.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Hodelpa Nicolas de Ovando, we stayed for a period of 21 days and we felt like home. The staff did a superb job from start to finish. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and truly went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. The front desk team was especially helpful. Ana Cespedes Supervisor of Reception and Reservation, has excellent customer service and she made our check-in smooth and welcoming. Their professionalism and kindness made a big difference in my experience. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return! What impressed me most was the integrity and professionalism of the staff. I accidentally left $100 in my pocket, and Fernando from the laundry team found it and made sure it was returned to me. The door men Felix Gonzalez & Security Supervisor Daniel Diaz, Wilmer Pena. At the restaurant that food was delicious and the service of the waiters Pamela Duval, Claribel Alcala & Yajaira, always made us feel welcome. That level of honesty is rare and speaks volumes about the people working here. In addition to that, everyone I interacted with was friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout my stay. I’m truly grateful for the excellent service and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. I would definitely stay here again!

Clara our waitress is great! Very patient with us who don’t speak any Spanish. Great service quality during slow, past peak lunch time. Dominican pork stew is good.
