Not as expected
Beautiful view from our water view room. Staff were friendly but one of the couples with us didn't have their room cleaned for two nights until they reported it to the office. Also, we were surprised that a hotel of this caliber didn't have free bottles of water in the room each day.

Loved the atmosphere and traditional feel of the hotel. The location was perfect for us, on the waters edge. I'd recommend paying for a sea view, we didn't and was disturbed by the railroad several times during the night/early morning. The bar and restaurant were popular, with a good atmosphere. We had dinner and breakfast - meals were delicious, and service was excellent.

Stay At the DMV Instead
Great view. Delicious food. Unexplainably bad non-systems of hotel management coupled with apathetic service. The view and food can't make up for the frustration we experienced trying to get the basic hospitality services of the hotel (ordering room service, canceling room service, checking out in a long line of other dissatisfied customers attempting to rectify billing errors and misapplied/unapplied credits, etc.) to work as they should. No joke and no hyperbole, the DMV is far better run than The Edgewater. You can see the view from other locations. You can eat in the restaurant without staying there. Save your money and stay somewhere better run and with better service.

Find a way to get rid of all the moths in the rooms. Give the valet guys a raise. They where fast and friendly. Location,location,location! Near to all the major attractions.

Crappy balcony experience, amazing hotel
Excellent hotel. Just make sure that your balcony room doesn't have any maintenance issues upon arrival. You may end up paying for balcony that is covered in bird droppings that you cannot use. And, no, this experience is not common. My friend staying next door got to enjoy his balcony as I was expecting. It was amazing from his room. In the end, it wasn't a Seattle bird law, it was a hole left in the ceiling after maintenance on the sprinkler. The lecture about the laws wasn't helpful.
