About the Hotel

When the property now known as The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Seattle debuted in the Roaring Twenties, it marked the arrival of the Pacific Northwest – until then, hotels of that caliber were found east of Chicago. It hosted countless galas, debutante balls and presidential visits – JFK stayed here in 1961 – and, in 1979, joined the ranks of the National Register of Historic Places. Italian Renaissance architecture and Old World style meld into a centrally located Seattle landmark that hosts a AAA Four Diamond Award-winning restaurant and one of the city's oldest oyster bars.

Reviews for The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Seattle

My family's home in Seattle

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 12 hours ago

Savoring in the romance of oysters at Shuckers, then a little gossip, rumors and expensive whisky in the Founders Club, Breakfast in The George, a late afternoon in the spa, and more mixology at the Olympic Bar – all in just 2 days-- fulfilled the promise of another perfect stay in Seattle at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. Seriously, the oyster experience with our professional server, Rishi, in Shuckers is a wonderful memory. He captivated us with the details of the iced dozen on the table in a manner that can only be compared to a Sommelier presentation of regional wines. There was as much to learn about the oyster as the grape, the shell like the glass – an illustration fascinating enough for my brother to celebrate his 61st birthday with a taste of his FIRST OYSTER EVER! This was an exciting event for my niece and I to watch. We were both anxious to eat the rest on our own, so we were none too pleased that he enjoyed his first oyster ever – reducing our share from 6 to just 5 each as he tasted his second oyster ever… fortunately for us, that was enough! What was once the elegant but austere lobby of Seattle’s former Four Seasons Hotel, is now a center of both activity and engagement with still quiet nests of solitude tucked away in the library stacks. Traditional old-world textiles and over-stuffed armchairs have been replaced with dramatic serpentine seating of modern fabrics, and private chairs with convenient tables. The Olympic Bar has been brilliantly integrated into the steps and slopes of the original lobby floor plan and features a large articulated sculpture high above the rows of premium spirits letting the imagination of the art reach two stories up to the mezzanine. It may take your eyes a lazy second to notice the moving clock-works motif of the sculpture effortlessly appear to slow down the passing of time while you ease into another sip and chat at the bar or explore the museum-like installations of this grand hotel’s curious past. Discover the Founders Club on your own. I’m not giving up anything about that gem. But make a reservation whatever you do! The stack keepers take their job very seriously. Polite but firm, -- a sure indication they’re protecting a first-time experience that’s very special. When you choose the Fairmont Olympic, you prioritize service in your choice of hotels. You’ll meet hospitality professionals in every public space, and welcome their company at every point you can. You’ll know they are supported by an equal number of dedicated men and women working behind the scenes to ensure the sheets are crisp, the meals are exquisite, and the building is safe and secure. I was lucky enough to be staying there when Danny the Doorman was counting his very last days before retirement. A well-earned rest after more than 30 years greeting guests and anticipating their needs at this historic property. His tenure speaks, of course, to the responsible care of his employer and the Fairmont’s reputation as a generous and rewarding company. But Danny wasn’t a former Four Seasons employee or a transformed Fairmont man. He was an icon; a pillar of the hotel’s Grand Motor Entrance – the O of the Olympic. He’ll be remembered by his guests and teammates as a man who heralded the spirit of genuine professional service, friendship, respect and care. Congratulations Danny, and as you pass the torch--thank you. The Fairmont Olympic Hotel. My family’s second home in Seattle.

Lovely hotel, nice rooms, pleasant staff

A lovely hotel with gorgeous rooms. Staff are really pleasant and welcoming. Really nice bar area to sit and have a cocktail. If you’ve booked bed and breakfast then you will have an “allowance” to spend. Just be aware of the hills when coming from the harbour area.

A Delightful Mother's Day Brunch at The Fairmont Olympic

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

The Fairmont Olympic's Mother's Day brunch exceeded our expectations in every way! From the exquisite cheeses at the buffet to the delightful Mountlake Terrace High School band, every detail was impeccable. The waitstaff were not only professional but also incredibly friendly and personable, adding to the overall warm ambiance. The buffet presented an impressive array of options that catered to every taste and craving. From the rich and creamy eggs cocotte varieties to the savory delights of roasted chicken, salmon, ham, and braised beef at the hot food bar, there was a wealth of choices to explore. Additionally, the freshly shucked oysters, shrimp cocktails, and delicate lox added a touch of indulgence to the spread. Not to mention, the traditional breakfast staples like fluffy scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, and hearty sausages were all expertly prepared. The variety was extensive, ensuring that there was something delightful for everyone, making our dining experience truly memorable. One highlight was the opportunity to create a bouquet and capture a special moment with it at the photobooth. Our experience was nothing short of exceptional, and we are already looking forward to our next visit.

Gorgeous hotel, solid location

The hotel has a beautiful lobby, and the rooms were nice too! Had all the proper amenities I’d expect from a nice hotel like this. Was perfect for a business trip. They did have to shut off the power in the middle of the night, but I don’t think it was something they could avoid, and it was a nice touch for them to bring us extra water and a flashlight and glow stick to show they cared and were sorry about the inconvenience

Excellent all-round hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I'd been unsure about staying at the Fairmont after reading some of the reviews. After my usual hotel was out of policy for a work trip, I took a gamble on the hotel and was in no way disappointed. I needn't have worried about the stated swimming pool hours - 8am to 9pm - as reception was always willing to have it opened early upon request. The lobby and bar area was beautiful; the room was spacious and comfortable; interactions with the team always positive. This has become my new #1 in Seattle.
