L'Auberge de Sedona

I just had an amazing experience with a staff member Alexis helping me plan for an upcoming stay in May. I have stayed at this property previously and had a beautiful time! Can’t wait now to return! I feel so welcomed by Alexis! Thank you!

We wait the room at 4 pm!!! Never saw this!!! Never return in this hotel

This was a tough one. It was a very strange experience to say the least. Some great, some not so great. We really wanted to love this resort, but unfortunately it fell short of expectations in the end. For all of the other reviews that have comments about their experience with "The Cliffs", we had the same feeling. Our Jr. Suite was not a suite but a room with a slightly larger closet. The views were breathtaking and the furnishings were very nice, but there were also issues like the room smelling of bleach, people smoking, and the fact that it opened out onto a public parking lot were definitely downers considering how much we spent on the room. Luckily the front desk was kind enough to move us out of our first Cliffs room and into a Creekside Cottage. The grounds down by the creek are amazing and very tranquil and feels very high end. On the surface the cottage room was very nice, but unfortunately we ran into many issues during our weeklong stay. The engineering team was our BFF, as they visited us 5 times. The plumbing had issues, the smoke alarm woke us up late at night (it was dying), and the temperature sensor on the thermostat malfunctioned and we woke up sweating profusely when it was set to 69 degrees...and blowing hot air. To be fair, the staff was very understanding and accommodating. Thankfully they did their best to make it right in the end, which was greatly appreciated. In all, the staff was very kind and I wanted to give a shout out to Celene and Sylvia as they were super sweet and thoughtful. Our dinner and breakfast at Cress was excellent and the service was very good. The Duck Pond pool was very nice and you cannot beat the views. In summary, I think that living up to the L'Auberge name, coupled with the extremely high prices, has proven a very tough task for this resort to meet guests' lofty expectations.

While the new amenities are fantastic, this property is nowhere near a 5 star experience. It may be 3 at best. The front desk is an insane, unorganized mess. I was put in a different room than booked, and on a different floor than requested. The "new" cliffside rooms are not worth the cost. The view is great, but the noise is unbearable. The walls and floors/ceilings are so thin you can hear everything. With people getting up at 5am to hike, no part of our stay was relaxing. The AC unit literally sounds like a jet taking off. I've never heard anything like it, and we travel a lot. People, including staff, congregate in the outdoor hallways and you can hear every conversation. Our booking was supposed to include breakfast, but we were told upon check in to use room service because the restaurant was booked solid for the next WEEK! What? We were able to eat on the deck the first morning (by the way, the restaurant was basically empty at 10am), tried to order room service the second day and couldn't even get through to the front desk to order. How is there not a direct line to the restaurant?? Fortunately, our room was ready upon check in, but we had to wait in a line 10 people deep for our keys. 8 of the 10 people were furious because their rooms weren't ready (4:30pm). The front desk was handing out free drinks like candy. It was so unorganized. The ($45 per day) valet at the Cliffside lot twice told me "your car is parked right over there" and handed me the keys. They were referring to the parking lot next door. The shining star of the property is clearly the new cliffside pool. The girls/team there were working their behinds off to keep everyone fed and happy. They were clearly understaffed. Again, I was unable to check out in person and had to just leave the room keys at the front desk because there were at least 12 people in line. The line at the front desk was down the hallway with people complaining. The prices at this hotel are crazy based on the level of service and rooms. My bill is wrong and I'm still unable to get any reply or help to fix it. We booked this hotel through AMEX FHR and AMEX should strongly reconsider this "resort" to be part of that portfolio.

My experience at L'Auberge de Sedona was amazing. We celebrated our anniversary there, and the atmosphere did not disappoint. The staff was friendly and attentive, making our stay even more enjoyable. We dinner at Cress on Oak Creek and had one of the most delicious and romantic dinners. The property itself is breathtaking, providing the perfect backdrop for a special occasion. We also enjoyed a couples massage and left feeling relaxed. My only suggestion would be to upgrade some of the spa furniture, as the chairs were not very comfortable.
