Reviews for Four Seasons Hotel Seoul

Four Seasons had made Seoul that much more enjoyable

Staff members were so welcoming and tentative. They could recognize you in two days. Room was clean and comfortable. I had my best sleep in years!

Bad room condition

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The hotel location was perfect, I was very disappointed with the room because I had to use an air purifier during my entire stay the room was clean but smelled very bad, it smelled like the room was rotting or stench it felt like I’m under a kitchen and the smoke was blowing in my room, the ac is very old or not maintained properly I put the ac on 18.5 with highest fan power but the room was still very hot I couldn’t sleep at night and I ordered a fan I had the entire time so please imagine the noise of the fan and the air purifier during my entire stay, the staff didn’t know English very good I told them about a certain thing they didn’t get the entire thing I was trying to say I said never mind cause I wasn’t in the mood to explain what I wanted more than one time.

Four Seasons in name and room only, humiliating experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We were just off a 22-hour flight was too tired to voice any complaints, so here it is 12 hours later. TLDR: First impressions, Last Impressions. Very good value for the western pocket. Service isn't necessarily bad, just a lot of language and cultural barrier. Booked through a large volume Preferred Partner, however amenities were no different from a bfast package, no late checkout, no welcoming drink, snacks etc -- just early check-in based on avail -- worst program than Amex FHR (just use FHR for this property). Not feeling special was the least of my problems once the turn-down cleaners came about 2 hours earlier as my partner who was going to take a bath had to hide naked behind the frosted pane of the toilet room. I want to give the benefits of the doubt and guess that nudity is a different topic in Korea, but it is a private bathroom not a public Sauna. Fortunately my partner didn't feel too bad, but for me the experience was comically humiliating and enough of a heart burn for me to want to book another hotel. Anyways, It's a Four Seasons in name and room only, but good value I guess? Who I am: I run a luxury flight and travel tech company in Silicon Valley. I mostly do luxury honey-moon style workcations with my partner. We've stayed at 15+ FS properties. We usually book business class flights + the lowest tier guest room or suite (if compelling) to see what our client's "worst" experiences are. I'm a younger millennial who appreciates the charm of historical properties, even if the properties are sun-washed and can be interpreted as tired, the FS service always outshines the property itself, always. They capitalize on making you feel special, or are suppose to. What this hotel is: FS hotels are divided into conference/consultant-oriented category and more location/resorts. There are also confused ones that are multi-purpose -- FS Seoul is in a confusing spot similar to Ko Olina/Las Vegas in the way that it's definitely a stay/cation spot and priced competitively to other hotels that it is definitely used for conferences. How I booked this time: We booked with a Preferred Partner Agent, we like to test other companies' product and relationships with internal fine hotels programs (STAR/PP/Prive/FanClub) etc. Usually we book: either FHR or if a friend has a Centurion Black card. it was about 400-500 USD per night very high season My Expectations for this property: *We walk in, luggages whisked away* check-in desk: "Hello _____, I see you have booked _____ for ___ nights, I see you are celebrating _____, thank you for being/booking through ________, as a part of ______ we have _____ for you and we've upgraded your room to _____ " *We go to our room and see some kind of local delicacy w/ a welcoming drink or something, usually a printed/hand-written warm note" What occurred: Everything was perfect until we got to the front desk around Noon, "hello, I see you've booked _____ for ___ nights, you're celebrating an anniversary of __ years. Unfortunately it's Childrens Day, we can't upgrade you, but your room is ready." While that seems fine (we did book the lowest tier, with a double bed room type), just expected more from Prefered Partners booking in bumping us up, it does happen. Then proceeded to explain the benefits on Preferred Partners, nothing new breakfast + $100 incidentals. Things went out the door again as soon as she said "checkout is at Noon and you need to request a late check-out a day ahead and it's based on availability." Wow, okay, they put Amex guests ahead of their own program? Once we go to the room, it is definitely a Four Seasons, light scents and impeccable taste, there was a small printed note that looks very standard, but nothing else. No drinks or anything for the special occasion. It got pretty weird once the turn down service folks let themselves in 2 hours earlier at 4:17 PM, I expected welcoming canapes, but it was just a tidy up. They told me to relax and sit down before draining the tub that was prepared for a bath and walking in on my partner naked behind the frosted pane of the toilet room. After the most awkward and humiliating 5 minutes, they left. We tried to laugh it off. We called front desk to get more bathing salts for the tub they drained but it never came (they delivered about 8/12 items requested). Overall, the experience is bizarre and it does seem like understaffing is an issue and google translation is much needed. I just wanted to feel special and make sure that future clients sent here will feel the same standard FS experience, but I think that is the least of our worries. How it stacks up against other FS properties in tiers: I'd say that its just right above Silicon Valley/Miami C+/B- if you will, value is great -- but the FS DNA is not there, I'm here to relax, but I feel comically stressed. S. Kyoto, Tokyo(s) A. Ko Olina, Muai, B. Mexico City, Napa, B-/C+: Seoul C, Silicon Valley, Miami, D. San Francisco(s), Vegas

Absolutely Recommend!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The Four Seasons in Seoul was by far our favorite hotel in Korea. We traveled all over as a family of four and we wish we had spent more time here. They were incredible. The room had so many personal touches, and it was extremely clean despite it being a suite which sometimes is hard to clean. The whole stay felt very luxurious, and bonus points for the Akira Back restaurant and Confectionary shop on premises. Highly recommend for those looking for a romantic getaway, traveling for business, or a personal trip for families. This hotel really does do it all, and is perfect for everyone. As a family, I was happily surprised that they even had little gifts for the kids. I wish we lived there it was so amazing! I guess I should also mention the location was perfect, although I could've spent all day in that hotel. The location was very close to the palace, shopping, a street market, and more.
