Reviews for Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai at Pudong

Good Hoel with Skyline Views

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

First of all, I usually stay on the Puxi side of Shanghai, when I travel to the city, which is about 4 or 5 times a year. On this visit I was attending a conference on the Pudong side and didn't want to get caught in the morning traffic, so opted for the Regent. Pudong is not the "walk around and explore" part of Shanghai, but the Regent's location is very good if you want a bit of skyline outside your window. Depending on the room's location, you can also get a glimpse of the Bund and the Huangpu river, and Pearl of the East (东方明珠) TV Tower. You are also right next to two of the highest buildings in Shanghai, if you wish to go up to the observation decks at the top of them. I stayed on the lounge floor. This came with a complimentary bottle of wine, free first round of in-room beverages and snacks, free first three pieces of laundry washing per day, and access to the lounge. The lounge was open for breakfast, so you don't have to fight the crowds in the main dining area on the first floor. The selection was fine, considering it wasn't designed to be a huge a buffet. I ate well. The view from the lounge also looks out directly to the Pearl of the East. My only complaint, and this seems to be true of Shanghai in general as I encountered the same thing at other hotels in the city, is that the lounge only has set hours for morning, noon, and evening. And it closes rather early. So it's actually not that easy to take advantage of it, since except for breakfast, the other times it is open for service (snacks and beverages) are when most people are most likely not at the hotel. I'm used to other hotels where it's open for breakfast, and then has general snacks and beverages throughout the day until around 10pm or 10:30. Another hotel that I frequent in Shenzhen also has a formal lunch and dinner time rather than snacks (though with just a few options). I did have the evening snacks, and they were fine -- like the finger foods you get at a reception. Beverage choices were fine, and the desserts were also good. I just wish the service hours were longer in general. The room, itself, was good. Large bed, good linen, bathroom was spacious and the already mentioned city views. The reception desk and concierge were fine. My assistant who travelled with me this time was also given a box of chocolates since when registering the hotel discovered that it was their birthday. That was a nice touch. All in all, it was a comfortable stay. The next time I am on the Pudong side of Shanghai, I will most likely consider the Regent again.

We were offered an upgrade at check in as per our credit card (to start next day) but it never happened. Manager, very rude, confirmed us that it was not possible (as opposed to message from employee at check in), Right after SPA treatment at hotel, we were pulled out by an hotel employee to the lobby (in bathrobe) to provide an “extra deposit”, Frequent water pipe noises at bathroom, Room service un-reliable (order not in line with request)

Stunning 3 Nights in Shanghai, Top view, Top Staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 months ago

We`ve checked in for 3 nights Shanghai. The view to the riverside and the two towers (financial / observatory) were just stunning. Mostly you find things in Hotels not hitting the 100 %. But not here. The STAFF was so considerate/attentive/friendly. Food was also great and authentic. Especially we want to thank Virginia Tang! She was outstanding. All in all thanks for the nice stay. Just one thing: the Finnish Sauna could be hotter (but I`m sure they would have done it, if we asked).

Solid hotel, with wonderful swimming pool!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 months ago

Located beside Pudong’s tallest towers, the Regent offers a comfortable experience with a wonderful swimming pool. We had booked via American Express FHR and could not have been happier with our welcome: upgraded accommodations to a one bedroom suite that offered ample space for our family. As others have mentioned, suites offer a first round of complimentary drinks and snacks — including a full sized bottle of red wine and sparkling — as well as three laundered items per day. With two bathrooms, a comfortable bedroom, and plenty of space, it was perfect for us. Breakfast was good with your usual Asian and Western offerings, although we found the restaurant quite busy and not as relaxed as we had hoped. The highlight for us though was the top floor swimming pool and hot tub. With spectacular views of the Pearl Orient TV tower and skyscrapers of Pudong, we enjoyed morning swims in the warm pool and the generally serene environment. All in all, the Regent was perfect for our needs and more than appropriately priced. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.
