The True Essence of the "Shangri-La Experience"
This hotel has truly exceeded my expectations in every way from the perfect location, luxurious ambiance to the insanely impeccable service. My 5 days 4 nights stay at the Pudong Shangri-la has been tremendously comfortable and memorable. My room was well equipped and situated at high floor with great scenic river and bund view. Housekeeping was amazingly quick and efficient every time a service request was made. A very special mention to Mr Kenny Ooi, an assistant front office manager who heads the Horizon Club Lounge whose service was truly outstanding. He really went above and beyond to make sure every single detail was well taken care of with absolute warmth and professionalism. His immense dedication and hospitality really made my stay a truly unforgettable experience, or from here on, I shall call it the true essence of the "Shangri-La Experience".

Great family trip and will come back
Stayed here for three nights. It was a phenomenal experience for my family. The room is clean and the breakfast cafe is magical. The location is super convenient with walking distance to subway line 2 and line 14 and the Shanghai eastern tower.

Terrible service by a few staff at this hotel!
I stayed at the Pudong Shangri-La recently, and honestly, I was really disappointed. Right from check-in, things felt off. The lady at the front desk, Leia Xiao, seemed in a hurry and didn’t explain anything about the hotel or our stay. We had to ask her how to get to our room, and she didn’t mention what was happening with our luggage, which the porter had taken when we arrived. She told us our bags were already in the room, but when we got there, they were nowhere to be seen. We had to call twice and ended up waiting almost an hour before our luggage finally showed up. Breakfast wasn’t much better. Wendy, who greeted us, just told us the buffet price and said we could pay later. She didn’t offer any info about the buffet or even ask if we wanted tea or coffee. The buffet itself looked pretty limited—mostly European food. After we finished eating, we found out there was a whole other section with more food at the back, but no one told us about it. When I asked Wendy why she hadn’t mentioned it, she didn’t say anything or apologize. After breakfast, I went to reception to complain and was told the duty manager would get in touch. Even at checkout, the staff member was too busy on her phone to notice me until I leaned over the counter. No thank you for staying, no offer to help with a taxi—her phone seemed more important. I left my contact details, but it’s been nearly a month and I haven’t heard a thing from anyone at the hotel. That was the last straw for me. I’ve deleted my Shangri-La account and have no plans to stay with this brand again. First impressions really do matter, and this one was not good.
