A heritage hotel that gives a glimpse of the history of the past century

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I chose to stay at Raffles for a heritage experience and the hotel didn't disappoint me on that note. Highly recommend to save an hour for the hotel historical tour to listen to their stories for the past century, and definitely give the old elevator a try - it still worked perfectly well! For the room, I didn't get a room upgrade as a platinum member because "they are at capacity". For a hotel that about half of the rooms are suites, I'm not so sure what the chance is that, especially when I booked my room a month in advance. For the dining part, breakfast was amazing. I had a high expectation for dinner because they said the tasting menu came directly from royal recipes; it was good, but nothing impressive, and a bit overpriced. Stuffs were friendly. The bar manager went above and beyond to offer me a welcome drink that was much expensive than it was supposed to be because "as long as I'm happy". But to be quite honest, my butler somehow disappointed me. He was nice and friendly but seemed not so familiar with his job. It took him a few minutes to finish (literally) reading my member perks for me, while it usually just took seconds for other hotels to point me out the most important things. For the hotel tour I mentioned above, he didn't tell me there were all the interesting activities until I asked specifically what did they have. I'd prefer that a butler can help out more proactively, rather than just do whatever I told him to.

Outstanding service and wonderful hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I stayed at this beautiful hotel as part of a Scenic Luxury Cruise and holiday. The hotel is 1930s charm personified and the staff wonderful. I became very unwell shortly after arrival and the hotel very quickly arranged medical treatment and then supported me even whilst an inpatient by fetching my wallet and medications from the hotel and brining to the hospital. They then transported my back to the hotel on discharge - amazing for a foreigner far from home. The food is wonderful, the rooms and decor lycurious and the beds extremely comfortable. The pool is large and inviting. I would definitely stay here again.

Nothing too much trouble

Singapore Airlines failed to transfer our bags so we were without bags. Sam and his team helped direct our bags for later delivery and kept us up to date. Nothing too much trouble for any of the delightful staff. Lovely tapas, excellent room. 5* service.

Elephant Bar Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I visited during evening time the renowned Elephant Bar at Raffles Siem Reap, where the service was exceptional, as expected. The drinks and snacks were outstanding. However, the overall concept of the bar was confusing and seemed to lack a clear appeal. The lighting was excessively bright, resembling daylight, and the background music from the bar was overshadowed by live piano music from the lobby. Additionally, the sounds of the dishwasher and cash register were quite intrusive. It wasn't a very enjoyable atmosphere, but perhaps this is intentional, aligning with the bar's concept as part of a chain hotel group.

Exquisite Hotel and Staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor and it’s sister property, Raffles Le Royal, in Phnom Penh were two of the most beautiful, gracious hotels I’d ever seen when I visited almost 25 years ago and while much has changed in Cambodia, they remain unrivaled. I was thrilled to be back. The staff is warm, welcoming, and attentive; and the huge pool, inspired by the Royal Baths at Angkor, is a much-needed respite from the heat and long days visiting the temples. Rooms are colonial chic and the posh Elephant Bar is the best place in Siem Reap for a nightcap. I was traveling on my own but with everyone at the hotel greeting me by name, I didn’t feel alone at all.
