A Little Piece Of Heaven

An absolutely joyful place to stay, stunning location, spotless rooms, the staff cannot do enough for you, the restaurants and facilities are first class, it went above and beyond my expectations - A little piece of heaven in Tuscany.

One of a kind, Fontanelle~

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We felt like absolute luxury here! Everyone was extremely kind and attentive to us, and the hotel had an overall picturesque vibe to it. I personally could not get over the views, and the fact that there are only a handful of rooms here made it extremely intimate and charming. Multiple bar and restaurant options keep things fresh, along with the shuttle that takes you to their winery and other sister locations. Special shoutout to the bartender from Venice that introduced us to a “Select Spritz” as well as a special concoction of her own - delicious! Will absolutely definitely only choose to come back to this hotel in the area, thank you for being the highlight of our honeymoon! Grazie di tutto!!

Paradise in Italy- Even Prettier in person!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Photos simply do not do Hotel Le Fontanelle justice. You are immediately immersed in the Chianti hills and this place is so much more stunning in person. The views from the main restaurant alone are worth the stay. Absolutely unreal. The rooms are spacious and elegant, the beds are incredibly comfortable, and the Bulgari amenities were such a lovely touch. The outdoor pools are beautiful and the spa area, indoor pool and massages were some of the best I’ve ever experienced. We also had a lovely private terrace and the whole property just feels authentically Tuscan in the best way. The service is what truly sets it apart. Every single staff member went above and beyond and the concierge was exceptional. The kind of person who makes you feel like your trip is their personal mission. The complimentary shuttle to the club house was such a thoughtful touch. Two must-dos: visit Vallepicciola, the winery owned by the property because the wines are outstanding in an equally stunning setting, and take advantage of the bikes to explore the grounds and ride into town. Truly one of the highlights of our trip. If you’re planning a Tuscany trip, Hotel Le Fontanelle needs to be on your list. Already thinking about the next visit!

Amazing Hotel - Restaurant will take you to ER

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 months ago

It pains me to write this review as the hotel itself and the staff were absolutely amazing and nothing short of accommodating, as well as the other restaurants on the grounds and sister hotel La Fontanelle. The grounds and amenities are truly amazing. However, it took a serious left turn when we visited their “Michelin” starred resultant Il Visibio on the last night of our stay. We’ve been fortunate enough to eat at many Michelin starred restaurants around the globe and I can honestly say this was the worst meal I’ve had in my entire life. The food was mostly unappetizing and while I can appreciate the story of each dish, they completely missed the mark on having an appetizing experience. Aside from the disappointing food we received, I got food poisoning and spent the night expelling the €600 we spent. This was likely because the food was that of road kill they found on the local streets: raw pigeon, raw shrimp, raw sheep, rotten fish, etc. I don’t mind paying for a Michelin dinner whether I agree with the flavors or not, but when checking out, we expressed what had happened in regards to the food borne illness and we were told “the food isn’t for everyone”… a disappointing response from staff given the otherwise incredible service we had experienced. Our tour of Italy turned into a true local experience as we had a visit to the Emergency Room to recover from this “one of a kind” dinner. And don’t even think about expressing disappointment or they will treat you like an uncultured annoyance who has no business critiquing their meal. Again, truly pains me to write this as the service from staff was phenomenal and detailed during the meal, although the meal perhaps wasn’t our taste and we respect that completely and remained respectful and open during the entirety of the experience. The true disappointment was in the aftermath of the disaster and the response to it.
