South Caicos
South Caicos exists today as one of the few unspoiled tropical destinations. Among the smaller islands in the Turks and Caicos Islands, (eight square miles), South Caicos is renowned for white powder beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, ocean-side bluffs, quiet bays and salt-water flats teeming with pink flamingos. Cockburn Harbour town is home to most of the island’s eight hundred (800) residents. With Caribbean-inspired homes on narrow streets lined with native stonewalls, the village harkens back to a simpler time and lifestyle. The charming and authentic Caribbean atmosphere of a village imbued with hundreds of years of rich history and culture is a rare find in a resort destination.
Environment
Relatively untouched by humans, South Caicos’ reef system is considered the healthiest and most vibrant in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Over fifty (50) species of coral abound, with spotted eagle rays, sea turtles, grouper, snapper and dolphin fish all part of this spectacular reef system, making it a premier SCUBA diving and snorkeling destination.
The waters surrounding South Caicos offer a diverse and spectacular background. The turquoise waters to the south and east turn to a deep cobalt blue just past the coral reef system, where the water drops from fifty (50) feet to seven thousand (7000) feet. It is here where anglers find world-class offshore sport fishing for sailfish, wahoo, mahi-mahi, marlin and yellow-fin tuna. The shallow waters of Caicos Banks to the west, is considered a haven for bonefishing.
Sailrock
Sailrock is a low-density resort & residence community, set on the southern portion of Sailrock Peninsula. Situated on a ridge sixty feet above the sparkling Columbus passage to the east and the Caicos Bank to the west. Sailrock boasts spectacular sunrise and sunset views. Clean Caribbean architecture defines Great House, with large, shaded verandas, and pool decks, which place the emphasis on casual comfort and laid back outdoor living.

As I sit poolside at our beachfront villa, listening to the rhythmic waves and taking in the peaceful surroundings, I can’t help but reflect on what an extraordinary experience our stay at Sailrock South Caicos has been. We travel extensively, and this has been, without question, one of the most peaceful, luxurious, and soul-soothing vacations we’ve ever had. This vacation was the true definition of a disconnect — a chance to completely decompress in a setting that felt both remote and refined. From the moment we arrived, we knew we’d found something special. Sailrock is unspoiled luxury at its finest. The resort has a rustic, natural feel that respects and preserves the untouched beauty of the island, never overpowering it. The landscape is allowed to shine — quiet, wild, and peaceful. While the resort itself blends effortlessly into its surroundings with thoughtful, unobtrusive design, the private villas are the epitome of high-end comfort. Our beachfront villa was beautifully appointed, offering all the modern luxuries we could want while still making us feel connected to nature. We spent most of our time at our villa’s private pool, perched just above the Atlantic. Though the Atlantic side had some sargassum due to recent storms, it didn’t impact our experience at all — if anything, it made our poolside retreat feel even more like a secluded paradise. We also enjoyed lounging at the resort’s main pool and Cove Beach, where the calm, crystal-clear waters were perfect for a peaceful day by the sea. Of course, we ventured out for a few activities, but what we looked forward to most was returning to the serenity of our villa — to listen to the waves, watch birds soar overhead, and be greeted by the occasional local donkey passing by. Dining was another highlight. Whether at The Cove, The Main House, or in the comfort of our villa, the meals were consistently excellent. Everything was prepared with care, and most importantly, properly seasoned — something that even high-end resorts often miss. Every dish felt intentional and flavorful. There were also countless thoughtful touches throughout our stay — nightly treats delivered to our villa, and personal touches that made celebrating our anniversary feel truly special. Every interaction with the staff, who come from all over the world, was warm and welcoming. The service was professional, but also genuine and heartfelt. One thing I’d like to address, since it comes up in some reviews: the ride from the airport. Yes, the road is unpaved — but it’s really just a dirt road, not rough or uncomfortable at all. To us, it added to the charm. It felt like we were being transported somewhere truly special, somewhere off the grid and far from the ordinary. We hope this place stays exactly as it is — quiet, rustic, unspoiled, and deeply luxurious in the most authentic way. Sailrock South Caicos gave us everything we didn’t know we needed in a vacation and reminded us what it feels like to truly unwind. We can’t wait to return.

If you are looking for a romantic getaway, this is the place. Low density, amazing food, incredible beach, and peace and quiet. One day we had the beach all to ourselves, and even learned to Hobie Cat! Spent a day on the sandbar without another person for miles. Also got to see a once in a lifetime meteor shower with almost zero light pollution on the island. Petra, the Guest Services Manager was everywhere, and made our stay just perfect. He enhanced every moment of our vacation. Ben was the man for any activities. He is so personable, makes every activity a delight, and being born and raised on the island knows the deep history the island enjoys. Do the snorkeling tour with him, you will not regret it! For anything down at the beach, Jerom is the guy that makes it happen. His service is impeccable, and he was always anticipating our needs. He took such wonderful care of us every day, and is a great representative of the resort. Last, but not least, Karyle Anne at the main restaurant is who you should ask for. Always greeted us with a smile and made our day with her personality. We cannot wait to go back! Running into a wild donkey late night in the main lobby was special! :)

My adult daughter and I just spent 5 wonderful nights at Sailrock South Caicos, and we would like to thank the team for an amazing experience. First, some lessons learned. We highly recommend taking the direct flight from Miami to XSC, as the immigration line took all of 10 minutes! You can easily travel with a carryon bag, as you only need swimwear, flip flops/sandals without heels, coverups, and shorts/tops/sundress for all meals and activities. They provide L’Occitane bath products, wash cloths, loofas, dental kits etc. They also provide “Off” in the room for the mosquitos and no-see-ums, and we strongly advise using this if you’ll be out early in the morning or later in the evening. Bring sunscreen and a hat for the beach/pool, as the sun is intense. The television and WiFi worked great - we had an oceanview ridge room and had a balcony that wrapped the entire room. The ocean breeze on the balcony was perfect after a long day at the beach. We also thought that the food and beverages were well done, and appreciated the daily change in the dinner menu. Everything was very fresh and made to order. That said, I could eat the calamari and crunchy chicken wrap with fries for lunch every single day! Best calamari I’ve eaten anywhere. Lobster season started August 1st, and the grilled lobster was outstanding! We did the mixology class with Mario - super fun. He was engaging and entertaining and my daughter enjoyed every drink he made. 1 with the “devil’s fire” was incredibly strong, which ended in a lot of laughs for us and the team! We also did a bonefishing lesson with Mr. G - also super fun and instructive. Saw several sharks, jellyfish (not poisonous or stinging), starfish, mullets, barracudas, turtles. One morning on the ocean side, from our balcony we saw whales breaching. We didn’t visit the beach on the Oceanside, as the sargassum was really bad - nothing they can do about that. The sea side beach is very shallow for what looks like miles out. We paddle boarded and could actually stand up if we wanted. We also had really good spa treatments in open air spa bungalows (expensive, but good services). Now for the team - Mr. Frances who picked us up/dropped us at the South Caicos airport, Mervin Joseph who checked us in and showed us to our room, Katherine at The Cove, Korril, Ruperto, Alden, Kevin, Mario, the others in the restaurant, and the buggy drivers - they all were AMAZING. Kind. Efficient. Paid attention to our preferences. And just flat out friendly. Additionally, General Manager Mr. Andre Boersma greeted every guest at dinner and checked on us several times. He also had chicken masala added to the dinner menu after speaking with my daughter - she said it’s the best she’s ever eaten. The chefs were simply GREAT. We enjoyed everything we ate, and the portion sizes were huge. Oh! And nightly turndown service came with a small box of cookies, brownies, banana bread, etc - sooo good!! This is a place to chill. I mean CHILL. There were some younger children, and I thought they would be bored unless they just wanted to swim/enjoy the beach and the free kayaks, paddle boarding, snorkeling etc. The sand is the closest to Maldivian sand I’ve felt this side of the world. And the water is crystal clear. The night sky allowed for excellent stargazing too. They didn’t have any sort of organized entertainment or children’s activities that I saw, but I’m told they do that during the Christmas/busy holiday season. It would have been nice, but certainly not needed - as long as you want to chill. I’ve stayed in Provo on Grace Bay twice and I enjoyed the beach/water in South Caicos better. I plan to return with some friends! Or solo. Thanks to the entire team and the leadership at Sailrock. Well done on all counts.

My wife and I just returned from Sailrock Resort and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. We were seeking a quiet upscale getaway for our anniversary and Sailrock delivered. We booked a Ridge-top Ocean View Premier Suite. Summer is low season and we seized on a resort offer that provided a discount on room rates, daily breakfast, $300 resort credit and inter island round trip flights from Provo to South Caicos. My wife and I thought this was a great value. Our suite was spacious, clean and comfortable. The suite west facing provided beautiful sunset views. Each of the suites are housed in two story buildings. These buildings are north and south of the Great House. Some suites are Atlantic facing some Bell Sound facing. There are several private homes with their own pools. These accommodations are facing the Atlantic and are steps away from its shore. Check out the resort’s website for room details. The food was very good. Breakfast was consistently great, lunch and dinner was also very good with the exception of one or two dishes. My wife and I were a little disappointed that additional seafood dishes weren’t available given the location. Overall we were very happy with our meals. Meals alternated daily between the Great House and The Cove. In high season we were told meals are served at both dining areas each day. The Cove is beachside overlooking Bell Sound. It’s very laid back and is open air dining. The Great House dining area sits ridge top and is also west facing. This dining area is open air it overlooks the infinity pool and Bell Sound with nice sunset views. There is a wellness menu, that accompanied the regular menu. A daily special was also available at breakfast and diner. The staff is what truly makes Sailrock a special place. We felt a connection with some of the staff. They truly make every effort to make you comfortable and pampered. A shoutout to Karyle and Gerris who served our breakfast and dinner each day, Kathy at The Cove for lunch service, Angus and Mario who served us cool libations, a special thanks to Jerom who not only took care of us each day at the beach he gave us sailing lessons and served us excellent rum punches and MiTai’s. Paul the food and beverage director and Putra guest experience director always check on us, thank you both! Looking forward to our return! Thank you Sailrock team.

I can tell you this, I be going back soon. The whole staff was great. It's unfortunate lost the names of the individuals I wanted list specifically, but the whole stafe was great. My daughter got stung by a Jellyfish and staff on the beach helped. I'm so grateful for the hospitality and experience.
