We came for an anniversary getaway and had a wonderful time. The customer service was excellent—there was a mix-up with our room type that we discovered after checking in, but the hotel manager, April, went above and beyond to make it right. You could tell she genuinely cared about making sure we had a great experience. The food at the Cascade Grill was outstanding—one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time, especially the pork chop and lava cake. We were looking for a place where we could both relax indoors and enjoy nature, and this spot delivered. Between the hikes, golf, and outdoor fire pit, it was exactly what we needed.

The location of this hotel was fabulous. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and wanted to get away from the city to enjoy nature — this property came highly recommended. While the staff was exceptional and everyone did their best to make our visit memorable, I was a bit disappointed with the room setup and some of the facilities. The room was clean, but one of the bedside lamps wasn’t working, and the heater didn’t function properly. We called maintenance, but the issue temporarily resolved itself, so we canceled the service request. Unfortunately, the heater stopped working again later that night. I mentioned this at checkout, and the response was that the weather had been warm and this was the first weekend guests were using the heaters. Okay... I intentionally paid extra for a river-view fireplace deluxe room, hoping for a more comfortable setting, but the bed was positioned right next to the adjoining door to the next room. It might be convenient for a family, but for us, it felt awkward, and the room itself was smaller than expected. After paying $346 for one night, I felt the room condition didn’t quite match the price — a regular room probably would’ve been just as good. That said, the location was great, and we truly enjoyed the beautiful fall foliage. However, if you’re expecting a luxurious experience at over $300 per night, I’d suggest setting your expectations accordingly.

Overall, pretty positive experience. The staff are just so incredibly friendly and the views of the gorge as the leaves change in October are stunning. The Standard Room was clean and simple. The hotel offers a few dining options, but the main dining area fills up quickly for both breakfast and dinner. So, make sure to plan ahead and make reservations. The restaurant staff are kind and accommodating but the food is a bit pricey for the quality and quantity. I'd probably explore driving the 5+ minutes into Stevenson to explore other eats. The weather was terrible while we were there but sitting by the fire looking out at the Gorge through the large windows of the main hall with coffee in hand was a definite highlight.

Once the apex of PNW charm, service and amenity, this property has seemingly degraded itself into a bland, overpriced conference center with a gorgeous view.

Good hotel. Bad food. Perhaps the worst pizza I have had in years. The hotel seems quite nice. And the trout was good. But lord, what a mistake the pizza was. Stay away from the Margarita. Cheap tomato sauce spread all over. A couple tiny slices of cheese. Tiny slivers of basil.
