Skamania Lodge

Great experience, friendly and attentive staff. Clean and peaceful getaway. This is my 6th time here, mainly for work conference and once with my wife and kids for just a family weekend getaway. It is always a great experience with beautiful views.

We stayed just one night but wished we had more time at Skamania on a PNW vacation from Chicago. The property was absolutely stunning and the pool/hot tub was a favorite for our whole family. Couldn’t recommend highly enough!

The location is amazing, and the property is beautiful, but it needs to be maintained a little better. On the other hand, staff was wonderful and quick to respond to questions and concerns.

Our E-bikes were stolen and the Skamania Lodge was no help! No cameras in parking lots and the parking lot we were directed to use had no signage at all! Beware take anything of value to your !room

tl;dr: Staying in a treehouse for a romantic relaxing couples getaway didn't really deliver so I feel I overpaid for what I got out of it. That said, it's still gorgeous and comfortable and inviting. Stayed in a tree house for 2 nights. Dined at Cascade one evening. Was aiming for a relaxing couples getaway in the woods. Didn't quite fit the bill for that. Everything was beautiful, clean, comfortable. But the environment didn't fit the bill. Hanging in the lodge living room or just outside is very beautiful, there are plenty of games you can borrow. And you can get drinks from the bar and take them anywhere on the property. There are also lots of kids playing, which is great for families with kids, but that's not what we were there for. So overall, when looking to relax with just your partner I didn't find the lodge very appealing. The other option was to hang at the tree house, which means sitting inside and watching TV or sitting on the balcony and looking at "nature". Yes there are trees all around, but the other tree houses are in view (though not their balconies) or the road is in view or green areas with kids playing are in view (and earshot). It's sort of an abbreviated wilderness. There were some birds flying around and I enjoyed watching them, but because it's still so embedded in activity from humans, it didn't feel like much more than sitting in a backyard. Which I can do at home and I do enjoy but it's free. We stayed in an Alder tree house (Huckleberry) and I did notice two of the others had balconies that basically faced the road which would have made me very angry. So while the lodge was a bit overstimulating, the treehouse was sort of understimulating. This is all with a point of view of being a relaxing maybe romantic couples getaway. If that's not your goal then maybe you like what you're reading and that's great! The food at Cascade was tasty but I was expecting more based on the prices, whether more quantity or more quality, either would be fine. But nothing blew me away. I suppose there's payment in there for the scenery. If that's the case, maybe overnight guests should get a small discount since they're already paying for the scenery. Every single staff we spoke to was so warm and friendly. I assume they love their job and I hope they're treated well, because I truly felt like they cared. A few quick things: -The bed was very comfortable -Heated bathroom floors are excellent -Huge wonderful shower -Private firepit was awesome -There is only a low outdoor coffee table at the treehouse, nowhere for a puzzle or to easily eat food from -Most chairs in the lodge and treehouse have arms, while they're fairly wide this still makes for an uncomfortable seat if you're in a bigger body -The door to the outside in the lodge living room is not accessible, I saw two different people in wheelchairs have problems getting outside. I love that there were bellhops opening the front doors for people, but how bout for folks to go out to the view?
