Not a 6 star stay - check everything on arrival BEWARE FOR disable

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Booked 2 rooms. One accessible for my mother who is 92 and her last stay in Sydney and I'm her carer 24/7. Tried to show mum around the casino. Mum has never driven it had a passport. She did have photo on disable parking but they refused her entry. Firstly all luggage in one room and missing an piece which had my mother's medication in. The first accessible room there were no lights or air conditioning. Had to take mum into the bathroom with torches on from our phones. Waited 2 hours for a change of room. Then on arrival for the second room the Aircon was 16 degrees cold pumping out also no face washers. Took over an hour to warm up. Then my mother needed a nap due to her anxiety of being changed. Needed another doona for mum was extremely cold. Didn't test the TV. After dinner came back and Requested a matteress protector and was told out of stock. Requested towels just in case. Then shortly after settling mum down found that the TV did not work. After 1 hour the housekeeping came to drop off a blanket and check remote. Found TV did not work at all. The blanket has rips in it. Still no towels. Then had no USB working port on my side but I could not use my mother's side for it folds out and would obstruct her going in and out of bed due to her mobility. They did say they could do a wireless charger but how long would that be as it was already 11,40pn at night. My mother needed the lights on all night for she thought that they would go out after the room before. Then went to breakfast and asked for porridge/rolled oats and got congee. Definitely a time to remember for all the wrong reasons.

Lovely room but there’s a lot lacking in regard to service and communication.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

For the price tag , premium hotel etc , I’d say 3 stars is on the generous side . Positives , lovely big comfortable room , bed , bathroom and view etc . Excellent buffet at breakfast. We were so looking forward to spending our wedding anniversary here at the jewel. We are seasoned travellers having stayed at premium hotels all over the world. In conclusion regarding service , communication this one doesn’t compete. While getting ready for late lunch ( before a show ), we booked Nobu, but no record of our reservation when we arrived. That was ok as they gave us a table anyway . Delicious food. It was disappointing to return to our room later that evening with no turn down service. Wet towels , dirty cups . Next morning we spent 15 minutes searching for a blow dryer and phoned guest services who said they’d all been removed as part of a fire drill . They did deliver one but it was too late as we’d wanted to go down and enjoy breakfast. At 9am arriving at breakfast immediately upon identification we were told we had an hour to eat and leave . There were about four other mishaps after that, including spending 30 minutes in corridor when our key didn’t work . An odd broken English phone call to our mobile while out walking talking about a parcel that had nothing to do with us . Waiting without success for a promised call from concierge about a tour , that concierge said they knew nothing about when going down in person. Overall a bit like faulty towers .

5 star cracks

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The rooms are lovely however small things make a difference when you’re paying the rates they charge and unfortunately some cracks are showing. Little service expectations like replacing soap, water and coffee cups. No pen or paper in the room. Not a major but when you’re being charged for quality, it’s nice to receive it. The hotel is extremely busy on the weekends.

No bags!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Terrible experience. We’re staying in an opera suite and after a bad check in experience we have been asking for our bags for over one hour and still can’t get them so we are missing a special event that we are in Sydney for. We’ll be lucky to make it at all now. 3 phone calls and still no bags

Bad hotel Bad reception Bad Manager Bad velue money

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I stay at Crown Sydney for 2 nights. I had a horrible experience with them. My confirmation number is 844022850. Me and my patner arrived at 8 am in the morning, it's been 24 hours flight for us . I ask the reception if I can check in early , She said there is no room available and she offered a room with opera view (My original studio room with harbour view) and i have to pay more money . Because my room already with view so I rejected . I gave my credit card for check in process and she said she have a room that i booked but i have to pay for early check in for the room. I confused before: 1. she said she does not have a room , 2. she upsell me another room 3. after i reject she try to make money asking me for early check in fee. She talked really rude to us , I aske to speak with her manager . I am really upset and tired . Crown tower is 5 start hotel but I felt they treat me like 2 start hotel. The reception then said she does not want to give me the room because she know it's our special occasion (our anniversary) she want to give me high floor, but I said to her " why earlier you offer me early check in and ask me to pay more ???" She does not apologize at all and give me bad look . Its really bad experience and the manager can not do anything at that moment . We stay at crown melbourne a couple times and always been amazing but with Sydney it's really BAD . The staff RUDE and try to UPSELL very hard . I wont recommend this hotel to my friends or family . This hotel 2 times more expensive than the one in melb but does not value the money at all .
