Palais de Chine

Our four-night stay in an executive suite at the Palais de Chine Hotel in Taipei was disappointing. The hotel in general, lobby and our suite are dark and dim which is probably the intentional aesthetic. This lack of brightness detracted from our overall comfort and enjoyment during our stay. Our room has an AI voice assistant. It started talking to us loudly around 2am. There was a sign saying don't unplug it so we turned off the sound. But it did the same again the next night so we just unplugged it. How useless and annoying! Our stay included access to the executive lounge. When we went to the lounge, a lady told us about the drinks and snacks area. There was a small selection of simple drinks and snacks which is nowhere as nice compared to other hotel lounges. We relaxed in the lounge and noticed food was brought to some other guests. We asked one of the ladies there. She said we can order from the menu but it will take about 30 minutes. No one ever offered us a menu, told us there was a menu until we asked after we were already there for 30 minutes so we just left. We have been to many hotel executive lounges and this one is the worst! The only thing we liked was the breakfast which had good and tasty variaties. We would not return to this hotel!

Although our time was short at Palaise de Chine. The service especially from Polly was amazing. When we checked out super early for our early flight they even packed us breakfast to eat. Thank you for making our experience in Taiwan during our honeymoon an amazing one.

We stayed at the Palais de Chine for our business trip in Taipei. The staff are extremely warm and welcoming and definitely go the extra mile to help the hotel guests. We felt very welcome and comfortable during our 3 night stint. We stayed in an executive room on the 15th floor. The aesthetic of the hotel is very pleasing and there is an executive lounge on the 17th floor which is complimentary as part of the executive room package. The lounge serves complimentary beverages and snacks and is open until 2200. Our breakfasts were included as part of our package and usually starts at 0630 to 1230. This is a buffet selection ranging from French pastries to authentic Chinese dishes. There is plenty to choose from and everything tastes really good! In addition you can order eggs (prepared in several ways) along with other dishes. Hot/cold beverages are included. We have seen from several reviews that the main issue with this hotel is the lighting. I do understand that this is part of the ambiance/decor the hotel wishes to portray. However, once you get used to the environment and you need to do some work (if you are here for a business trip like we were), the lighting becomes a real issue and a hindrance to productivity. Although many reviewers have commented on the dim lighting, and the management have replied saying they will take this into account, nothing has been done about this to date, which is disappointing. I think in the rooms, there should be the option for the guests to have the room brightness increased to their desired level. This lighting issue is the same in the business center as well as the executive lounge. This really needs to be addressed and acted upon. This may not have occured to the hotel management, but people with clinical issues with their vision, may have a lot of difficulty seeing properly especially when the lighting is dim like this. I would have given this hotel 5 stars but based on the aforementioned issues mentioned above, and seeing that these have not been resolved despite many similar historical reviewer comments posted, 4 stars is the maximum. Nonetheless, a great place to stay if you are visiting Taipei. The hotel is very close to the MRT and major malls!

Great location right next to one of the major malls connected to the main train station so good for shops and restaurants as well as the MRT. Harry Potter decor feel to the hotel. Did not have a pool and do not think it has a gym.

Liked this hotel. Boutique and interesting. Not the best club floor, small snacks. Breakfast buffet nice but not included with the club floor. Yes everyone was right lights are a pain to figure out. Comfortable room great bathtub! Good location. I would recommend and return.
