Beware of their cancellation policy and rigid customer service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

As of writing this review, I am currently staying at this hotel. While I have no complaints about the quality of the hotel, I do have significant concerns regarding their customer service and cancellation policy. Firstly, the front desk representative seemed to lack empathy when I approached them with questions. It appeared that they were more interested in following a rigid service manual rather than genuinely helping me. While this is not a major issue, it was disappointing. The bigger issue is that I booked a room in error for the dates May 28 to 30. Upon realizing the mistake, I canceled the reservation within five minutes. Despite this, the hotel charged me for one night instead of issuing a full refund for the two nights. This policy is unreasonable. I later discovered that their policy states that reservations made after 11:59 PM on May 7 would incur a one-night charge regardless of the cancellation time. I made my booking on May 16. This policy seems designed to penalize customers for honest mistakes and makes no sense. It feels like a tactic to generate income through punitive measures. When I approached the front desk to discuss this issue, the representative turned me away, stating that there was nothing she could do and that I needed to contact Expedia. Although I understand that the booking was made through Expedia, as a current guest, I expected better treatment. This is the same representative who tried to upsell me to a different room, which I declined. I can't help but wonder if this influenced the poor treatment I received. Ultimately, despite enjoying the room and amenities, the poor customer service has ensured that this will be my last stay at this hotel. The quality of customer service is crucial, and this experience has left a negative impression.

服務態度非常良好

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Manager Kevin is a kind-hearted individual. One evening, I found myself in need of a birthday cake, but had forgotten to make arrangements in advance. It was already late, and no cake shops were open. However, Kevin promptly reached out to a seller on my behalf, ensuring that my needs were met. Despite my limited proficiency in Chinese, he patiently listened and assisted me, creating a truly delightful experience. The hotel boasts a pleasant environment, with immaculately clean rooms and a convenient location near Taipei Main Station. Overall, my stay was nothing short of enjoyable.

Friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Modern and clean. Great for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Ken Tso the Concierge Assistant Manager and hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel location is excellent with easy train and bus access and above a modern shopping mall and restaurants. The rooms were very clean, nicely furnished and the facilities provided were comprehensive. The hotel has a really nice feel and my stay there was very relaxing. I’d certainly recommend Palais de Chine and would stay there again. Steve and Wendy from Australia.

Very dirty

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

It's a dirty 5-star hotel. We stayed here for 4 nights because it was close to the mall, but the hotel didn't change the bedsheets at all. It gave my legs a rash. And the room floor is very dirty. When I moved the bed, there was garbage under the bed, I found shoes, coins, and a lot of dust

its location is nearby Taipei main station which is quite convenient to stay at. The staff are nice and helpful. Overall a very well satisfied experience. Besides, the room service is excellent too. After every tiring day, you could expect everything cleaned up with new towels, cups etc.
