About the Hotel

Conversational murmurs and tinkling piano rise through the atrium, shouts of laughter accenting the melody. Joy understood in any language. There’s a sense of intrigue here that is impossible to place, much like Taipei itself: a melting-pot metropolis infused with Chinese, Japanese and Western influences, where Taoist temples stand next to gleaming skyscrapers and hot springs steam the base of the Tatun volcano group, a mere 15 km. (9 miles) north of the city.

Great stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

While the hotel is old, it is well-maintained and the rooms were large, well-appointed and clean. Nothing to complain about. The buffet breakfast at Brasserie had a large selection. While it’s hardly the best buffet breakfast across 5-star hotels all over, there is sufficient variety for one to not feel bored after a few mornings. As some other reviewers have remarked, there is a remarkable inconsistency in service attitudes. We have encountered staff who gave wrong information and were simply curt. But on the other hand, there were also those who were genuine and polite. In particular, the service recovery by the Asst. Guest Relations Manager Ms Tina Kuo was impeccable when we encountered issues with the front desk. She single-handedly made the entire stay for our group of 6 more pleasant, and would be a key reason in us choosing to return to stay.

Helpful staff and great service

This was our 2nd time and really enjoyed the stay here. The room was spacious, the service was excellent. Our needs were immediately addressed and we had a great time at the club on 19th floor. The concierge was very helpful and gave us good suggestions.

Excellent Hotel/Terrific Staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

I came to Taiwan with my teenage son for spring break. We used Taipei as base to get to other cities in Taiwan. We stayed in Regent two separate nights and had wonderful stays. The location of the hotel is great. The parking lot has at least 2 levels underground and pretty big. Even when they had a full house with banquets one night, we had zero issues with parking although you can see there are a lot more cars than usual. Both times, there were very short lines while checking in/out, but there is a staff at the front of the line to make sure you are acknowledged and inform you there will be a short wait. Very thoughtful. We booked through Amex FHR and all the benefits were honored and available, including the room upgrade. Tina (the taller one as there were two Tinas) checked us in and were very friendly and a great communicator. She also helped us with another item during our second stay. Two thumbs up for her! The room was very nice, clean, and comfortable with all the amenities you would expect from a 5 star hotel. The hotel uses a "real" key as the room key. I don't recall when was the last time we held a real hotel key in our hands. Kind of charming. The breakfast was literally one of the best we ever had in Taiwan (tied with Intercontinental in Kaohsiung). The variety was actually kind of overwhelming and the quality and taste was excellent. The breakfast staff was wonderful even during busy times. The best part of the stay was the massage. As part of the Amex benefit, there is a $150 spa credit applied towards the room. The massage room was both private and luxurious. The steam shower is better than what I have at home - very impressive. The best was actually Hanna. She gave one of the best massages I ever had. Her English was very good and we had a great conversation during the massage and she told me about Taiwanese culture/life and shared her stories from her 1 year studying in the US. In conclusion, I would not hesitant to come back again. Great accommodation, food, spa, and most importantly, the staff!

Great hotel for families

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Stayed 7 nights with my teenagers and the whole family loved it. Location is perfect and close to MRT, shops, and restaurants. We stayed on 8th floor and rooms were large, quiet and bed super comfortable. All staff were amazing, from reception, concierge , house-keeping, pool, gym and restaurants. Big shout out to all staff during the recent 7.2 magnitude earthquake quake - they made sure we were all safe and well looked after, even although they themselves may have felt unsettled by it. Family highlight was the movie nights in the pool, such a fun way to wind down in the evenings.

Culinary Heaven in a Five Star Hotel Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Fantastic 5 star experience. Great service, facilities, and central location. The hotel has more than 10 restaurants on its premises including Michelin starred one. The dining choices are varied and outstanding and sets it apart from all other 5 star offerings. From cafes to internationally recognized cuisine, and private rooms to expansile buffets you will be in culinary heaven.
