Excellent experience!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

It was our first time staying at this location. My wife and I enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very nice and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is in a perfect location and has a great roof top pool area. Make sure you check out the Beacon lounge on the 27th floor, the views are amazing.

Not worth the price

I really wanted to like this hotel but at most every turn it was disappointing. I want to start out with the positives- the hotel and room were clean. The executive lounge was fantastic. Such kind, wonderful people working there. The food was very good too (except no labels identifying much of the food (for example- the cookies.. was it chocolate chip, peanut butter chip? No idea) So those with an allergy had to be cautious. Now the negative- the beds- horrible. Rock hard. No water pressure at all. As a woman don’t attempt to take a quick shower with a hair wash involved. The A/C. I fully understand this is Tampa in the summer but I stayed at the JW in Nashville last summer (amazing hotel) and had no issue. The room never got cool. Even with curtains closed all day. The bar upstairs- very esthetic but ridiculously expensive. I am a frequent traveler. I stay at high end hotels in high end places. For example, we just returned from a high end hotel in Maui. This was above and beyond Maui prices. We left after one drink. It’s Tampa people. Now- one major negative the hotel cannot control but highly impacted our stay. The amount of conference attendees staying at our hotel made it impossible to enjoy the facilities. Imagine a room full of sales people. Everyone was talking over each other at the highest level of voice possible. The bar, the lounge, the downstairs table bar (main bar was under construction). It was impossible to use any of the resort features that we paid for due to the highly obnoxious conference attendees staying at the hotel. Once they left it was like the hotel returned back to a more calm environment. This experience will make me highly reconsider our stay in Oct.

Great Rooftop Vibes

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

We came to Tampa for a business networking event and experienced the rooftop on both Friday and Saturday. Saturday with DJ Erock was on another level. His music transformed the entire vibe and kept the energy going all night. The rooftop, staff, and service were amazing, but DJ Erock made the experience unforgettable. Marriott should book him for Friday nights too! we’d be back for that. Thank you for a great time JW Marriott & Dj Erock 💥

Valet is scammers

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

I had a very disappointing experience with the valet service at the JW Marriott. When I arrived, the valet attempted to process my debit card and claimed it wasn’t working. I was then asked to provide a different payment method, so I used a credit card that I rarely ever use. The very next day, I discovered multiple unauthorized charges around the Tampa area totaling approximately $1,800 before I even woke up. Since this card is rarely used anywhere else, the timing is extremely concerning. To make matters worse, I was told by the restaurant staff that valet parking would be complimentary if I dined at the restaurant. We had our valet ticket validated at the restaurant and were specifically told parking would be free. However, when leaving, the valet attendant insisted it was not complimentary despite the validation. Between the confusion regarding valet validation and the unauthorized charges that appeared immediately after my visit, this experience left me feeling frustrated and concerned. I strongly encourage management to investigate their valet operations and payment handling procedures to protect future guests. I cannot recommend the valet service based on my experience.
