The Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi presents, at first glance, exactly what one expects from the brand. The design is elegant, the rooms are refined, and the overall environment is calm and composed. On the surface, it is polished and professional. However, once you move beyond that surface, the experience begins to unravel. We paid for an upgraded room, only to be downgraded on arrival due to occupancy. That is disappointing, but more importantly, it was poorly handled. There was no ownership, no recovery, and no real sense of care. We had also arranged a bottle of champagne for our arrival to celebrate our anniversary. It was not delivered. When we raised this, we were told outright that no such booking had been made. Only after presenting written confirmation did the position change, and even then, the response lacked professionalism. The tone, reaction, and body language were dismissive and inappropriate for a hotel of this calibre. This seems to be a global trend now, to employ youngsters in snior positions that lack experience and morales and values. When we requested to speak with senior leadership, both the Hotel Manager and General Manager were said to be unavailable. No follow-up was made, and no attempt to recover the situation. That absence is telling. More concerning were the fundamentals on the floor. At the restaurant, hygiene and operational discipline fell well below expectation. We observed unacceptable food handling behind the pizza counter as well as the Chef picking his nose repeatedly whilst preparing food. Glassware arrived with visible lipstick marks, and a pasta dish was served cold. These are not minor lapses. These are basics. In luxury hospitality, the basics are non-negotiable. Equally concerning was the presence and engagement of the F&B leadership team. There appeared to be a lack of active oversight during service, with team members visibly disengaged and at times focused on mobile devices rather than the guest experience directly in front of them. In a property of this level, leadership should be visible, present, and setting the standard on the floor at all times. This points to a deeper issue. Systems may exist, but they are not being consistently executed. The result is a stay that feels transactional rather than considered. The physical product and location are strong. The foundation is there. But great hotels are not defined by design alone. They are defined by people, standards, and the discipline to deliver both, every time. Reliability is the baseline. This property did not consistently meet that baseline during our stay. Overall, this is a hotel that looks the part but does not always perform it. It is comfortable and well-designed, and clearly capable of excellence, but in this instance, it fell short where it matters most. After a extremely disappointing experience at the Four Seasons Hotel Singapore, it raises broader questions around consistency across the brand.

This is the only place I ever want to stay in Japan. The hotel itself is breathtaking, centrally located for sightseeing, flawlessly run, comfortable generous rooms and bedding, the shower---I'll miss that perfect shower pressure--the jammies (I bought them-- so yummy), perfection housekeeping, small touches like sakura cord wraps on your electronics, amazing service, the General manager greeted us every morning like old friends. Breakfast was delicious, prompt, and easy. But the other main reason I wouldn't stay anywhere else is because of Ui and the concierge team who made our pre-arrival arrangements so seamless. I can't tell you the amount of emails I exchanged with this team and they never seemed bothered, were always professional and ridiculously helpful. The logistics of Japan are not always easy if you aren't going through a travel agent all inclusive, but I didn't want that because I didn't want to lock in all day tours every day. I wanted some flexibility. The concierge team helped guide me to the things and the ways I wanted to see Tokyo, helped with transportation, dinner reservations, other types of reservations. One note is that I was terrified of eating in Japan because I have a gluten allergy. The concierge sent us to accommodating restaurants and the hotel itself was very helpful and knowledgeable about my eating. We ate one night at the Italian restaurant and it was delicious, I wish I had a whole day just to enjoy the hotel! I'm dreaming of when I can return to Japan and there is no doubt that I will be staying at the Otemachi. It is a really special place.

I am late in writing this review from our trip to Japan, (November - December 2025) but cannot say enough positive things about our TWO stays at the FS Tokyo Otemachi!! We stayed for 3 nights on our arrival to Japan (Tokyo) and then four nights at the end of our trip. PROS: Arrival experience was 5*, great arrival lobby, escorted up to lobby on 39th(?) floor with spectacular views of Mt. Fuji! (we were lucky that it was clear on all days of both of our stays except for one!) Checked-in directly in our suite (wonderful upgrade for our first 3 nights)! One of the most spectacular suites we have had at a FS property, corner suite with stunning views from the bed and bath and living room of Mt. Fuji and Tokyo Wonderful welcome amenities celebrating our birthday(s) and anniversary, very personalized Extremely comfortable bed and linens Super spacious bathroom(s) - there were two full baths in the suite, but the master bath was well laid out, great water pressure and of course the Toto Toilets are a PLUS! Housekeeping was excellent, everything as needed / wanted Really nice PJs are provided for guests and you can purchase at the spa. Concierge services: Cannot say enough great things about this team. Special shout out to Taki whom took excellent care of us on both stays, coordinating return flights due to an unexpected issue where we had to extend our stay, and he was incredibly professional and helpful in assisting us with everything we needed, They were also very helpful in securing a wonderful "foodie" tour guide for us. Pigneto: Very Very good Italian dinner here. Service is excellent as well. Bar Virtu: A definite must!! Ask for the Whisky tasting experience and for Graham to guide you!! He is wonderful and the views are spectacular. I am sure all the rooms are great here, but we did pay for our suite on our return stay and we were so happy we did. Views for days, service is 7* and the suite was so comfortable, it was a pleasure to return to at the end of our day and made us not want to leave. CONS: NONE special thanks to George in the arrival lobby - he is a joy and was so kind with us when he escorted us through Tokyo Station to catch our train to Kyoto. He was a font of information and truly an asset to the hotel. There were so many others to thank, but sadly I cannot remember all their names.

A fabulous, truly fabulous hotel on the top of Tokyo. Incredible service, location and decor. Not cheap but has a better view than the Aman, which is almost twice the price in a lesser location. We had booked a quick trip to Japan as a last-minute summer vacation. After briefly checking the weather (this was in June), Tokyo seemed temperate and we flew over from LA. Little did we know the rainy season had just began. It was pouring the day we arrived but the clouds eventually parted and we found ourselves at this swanky hotel. The weather mostly cooperated during our stay then got incredibly hot. Initially, we booked an Imperial Palace view... which technically it was. That said, it faced south and was narrower than the better, larger rooms facing west and Shinjuku. So after some polite negotiating at the front desk, we were very kindly upgraded for the better part of our stay (we were here for 8 nights... had to cancel a few nights in Kyoto as the weather there was truly horrendous). We ended up in a fabulous, incredible, amazing room that was pretty much twice as wide as the previous one, with a bathtub in one window. (The whole bathroom was adjacent to the bedroom area... the opposite of the railroad car plan of the first room). What a view. Stunning. I will never forget it. A big, big thank you to Francesca, Kei and Jonna, who were instrumental in the room switch. Such nice women and so friendly and helpful, day after day. The service here overall was just impeccable, too, all the way around. Others staff to mention, in no particular order: Claudine, a host; the conceirge-y Tux at breakfast; server Tatsuki at breakfast; Nagomi,a friendly woman on the ground floor entrance who got our bags taken care of; Annamarie, a lovely woman who gave us a tour of the fancy restaurant, which is beautiful but faces the wrong way; Ryoturo, the bellhop who moved us; server Masaki at breakfast, server Daisuke at breakfast, and Dawn the concierge. As you can tell by that long list, we got FANTASTIC service and everyone mentioned was a delight to interact with. (So much so I think I got all their names spelled correctly... I hope). So polite, but sweet and friendly and accommodating. Service was never stuffy... always just ideal. Truly a masterfully run hotel... perhaps the best Four Seasons we've been to and we've been lucky to have been to a few. The fact that I had such a long list of people to thank is not typical... usually it's a handful who stand out but we were blown away with the service. And the hotel's decor. Incredible. And those views. Oh, and the breakfast, which was included in our rate, is a MUST. Great food, great views, great service. A wonderful experience every day. Definitely spring for it if possible. For dinner, we almost always had room service. With the best view in Tokyo 37 floors up, we needed to go no further. Food and service was excellent every time. Not so wonderful were the European tour groups who were there for a big part of our stay. They were decidedly inelegant and not particularly upscale in behavior or appearance, trust me. On checkout day, they all dragged their bags into the lobby and sprawled around. It looked like an EasyJet or Southwest Gate for a few hours. Really brought the place down a few notches. I wish the hotel had made them check their bags downstairs while they waited the long hours for their flights. When you're spending a lot of money on a room, those groups definitely took some of the luster away. That said, I happily don't remember them now, just the wonderful aspects of this hotel. As for location, I thought it was perfect, especially if you've been to the more obvious places in Tokyo on previous visits. The hotel takes up the top few floors of an modern glass office tower just a block from the Imperial Palace. This is the NICE new business section of Toyko, which I liked the clean-feeling energy of. The lobby takes up the top floor of the building and extends the length of the hotel along the main Palace view. The breakfast room/casual restaurant has incredible views and a beautiful outdoor patio, too, 39 floors up. The lobby itself was full of tourists and locals having tea. It also has a stunning view. The well-equipped and rather large gym has the same incredible view, too. Great place to work out, and one you won't forget easily. The indoor pool faces north... less great a view but still a nice place to relax on hot afternoons when it's not too busy with kids from that tacky tour group. As I said, the immediate neighborhood is a little business-oriented, and I think business people are the typical guests, which I would have preferred. But hey, it was summer vacation time and I believe Japan was a deal to Europeans last summer. As for the hotel's location, if you walk a block west, you get to the moat of the Imperial Palace. A few blocks east and south you'll find yourself at Tokyo Station. Really just a convenient, clean, modern neighborhood to stroll around in one of my favorite cities in the world. Almost forgot to mention, in a very sweet gesture, we got monogrammed baseball caps as a parting gift. They may do it for everyone (or more guests than just us, one has to imagine), but the way they handled it made us feel really special. Kudos. What a special hotel, what a memorable stay, what a sweet and completely excellent staff (so many more I didn't have time to mention). Thank you, FS Otemachi. We loved every minute of our stay.

We had a family vacation at the Four Seasons Otemachi in January of 2026. The entire stay at the hotel was perfect. The service was exceptional. The rooms were spotless. The entire team at the hotel was so gracious and welcoming. The service is impeccable. The food excellent, and the spa was lovely. The restaurant for breakfast was delicious and Virtu the bar was also perfect. Our family of 6 had a great stay . We are looking forward to returning soon. A great location and wonderful vacation for us. Thank you Four Seasons.
