It began with a desire to create a truly Japanese hotel with elegance and comfort equal to the world’s best luxury hotels. Hotel Okura originally opened its doors in 1962 guided by this powerful vision. In 2019, The Okura Tokyo marks a new beginning with two distinctly branded wings: the restrained and elegant the Okura Heritage and the Okura Prestige, a modern, urban hotel. The Okura Tokyo is suffused with the refined and elegant Japanese aesthetic and a commitment to providing Japanese-style hospitality to each and every guest. We are waiting to serve you with our unique version of Japanese hospitality.

The Okura is a big name in Tokyo hospitality. The hotel was completely rebuilt in 2017 (?) and is such a beautiful, rustic hotel experience like nowhere else. The lobby is a masterpiece, breakfast is very nice, the onsen (spa + swimming pool) is superb and also the rooms, especially if you get an upgrade to a corner room, are spectacular. It does come at a price though and the area (Toranomon) can be a little dull at night. However, good access to metro and the area around the Imperial Palace Gardens.

I first stayed at The Okura in the late ’90s and was a regular guest back then. While the old buildings are gone, I’m glad to say the service level remains just as it was back then: impeccable yet understated. The rooms are a serious upgrade from the past. Our corner room was modern and spacious, offered great views, and had all the amenities I needed. Within the area including Roppongi to me these are the nicest hotel rooms. What really exceeded my expectations, though, was the spa. Having stayed at six different five-star hotels in Tokyo, I think The Okura’s spa is by far the nicest one Ive been to in Tokyo. The location is very convenient—just a short walk from Toranomon Hills underground station once you figure out how navigate the basement through to the office building.

We had the pleasure of staying at The Okura Tokyo twice during our travels in Japan, and both experiences were nothing short of exceptional. Located in the heart of Tokyo’s banking district and just a short walk from several subway stations and the American Embassy, the hotel is perfectly situated for both business and leisure. Our rooms were on the 38th and 39th floors, offering breathtaking views of the Tokyo skyline. Each room featured a luxurious king bed, high-end toiletries (including facial creams and soaps), plush pyjamas, thick towelling robes, and electric blackout blinds—even in the bathroom! We had club access, which I highly recommend. The club lounge offers a fantastic breakfast and a delightful evening service with cocktails and champagne from 17:00 to 20:15—a perfect way to unwind. Dining options within the hotel are excellent. The Orchid on the ground floor serves a diverse international buffet. Yamazato offers refined Japanese cuisine, and the French restaurant was my personal favorite—elegant, delicious, and a must-book in advance for breakfast (table service only). The spa and wellness facilities are world-class. The 25-meter pool is serene and luxurious (note: swim caps are required and provided), and the spa includes a jacuzzi, cold plunge, sauna, steam room, and premium toiletries. There’s also a large gym, though we didn’t have time to use it. A special thank you to Kenji-san, the general manager, whose thoughtful recommendations helped us explore Tokyo beyond the usual tourist paths. This hotel is a flagship of the Okura brand, and it shows in every detail. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a luxurious, memorable stay in Tokyo.

Stylish and elegant hotel slightly outside the most crowded areas of Tokyo. 5 star service and spacious rooms. Easy to get subway or taxi to the key neighborhoods. Lovely spa and pool area. Good restaurant and drinks. We will stay here again.

We stayed at the Okura on our last night in Japan in an Okura Prestige room. The room was very spacious with a magnificent view from the 31st floor. While we were out for dinner they laid out pyjamas, placed bed rugs and chocolats. The hotel staff was very welcoming and the bellhop gave us a tour of our room. We opted for the buffet style breakfast which was fantastic. I would definitely stay again at The Okura.
