The Park Hyatt spans from the 39th to 52nd floor in the glass tower designed by Kenzo Tange. It is one of the best hotels in Tokyo and is a legend, best known for its starring role in Lost in Translation alongside Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson. It offers flawless service, views of Mount Fuji and one of the most atmospheric cocktail bars in the world. The guest rooms at Park Hyatt Tokyo are spacious and serene, each offering walk-in closets and high-tech amenities. All guestrooms are appointed with original artwork, exquisite woods and fabrics and books for reference and pleasure.

A hotel that has just “reopened” (almost feels brand new) in the Shinjuku area, located in Shinjuku Park Tower, following the largest renovation since its original opening. The hotel officially reopened on December 9, 2025, after an extensive 18-month renovation. This hotel is famously known for its appearance in the movie “Lost in Translation.” Nearly all guest rooms have now been completely refreshed, with brand-new furniture throughout. The only original element preserved is the dried-leaf motif artwork above the bed — a signature design dating back more than 30 years to the hotel’s opening era. The in-room TV is impressively large compared to most hotels, featuring a 65-inch screen even in the entry-level room category. Bathrobes are from FRETTE, and of course, the hair dryer is a Dyson, which has pretty much become the standard for hotels at this level. The entry-level rooms start at approximately 50 square meters, which is exceptionally spacious by Japanese hotel standards. There is plenty of room to open multiple large suitcases without feeling cramped. The space feels open, airy, and very comfortable. As the hotel is housed in a high-rise building, the Tokyo city views from the rooms are on another level. On clear days, some rooms even offer a glimpse of Mount Fuji. As for the nighttime cityscape — no words needed. It is absolutely stunning. Breakfast is another highlight worth mentioning. The quality is excellent, with well-prepared dishes made from premium ingredients, offering both Western and Japanese selections that are consistently delicious. Everything feels thoughtfully curated rather than mass-produced, and the service during breakfast is just as impressive — attentive, warm, and genuinely welcoming, making mornings here especially enjoyable. Overall, the experience delivers on every level, from the beautifully refreshed rooms and breathtaking views to the outstanding service and dining. It is a stay that truly feels worth every yen spent, and one I would highly recommend experiencing at least once.

Wonderful stay. For just reopening a few days before, it was very impressive. The lighting throughout the hotel, and the overall design were stunning. Do not miss out on breakfast. It was a highlight of an already memorable stay.

Love the new refreshed rooms and bathrooms. Seating area near the windows are also much nicer now. Common areas are refreshed but still maintaining the same amazing feel and ambience of the Park Hyatt Tokyo. Customer service impeccable every step of the way. Still my favorite place to stay in Tokyo!

It's back! We waited for it to re-open and so glad we did. The changes to the main floor were minimal (which we appreciate). A few more curves in the furniture, perhaps. The bedroom had some tweaks, but still remained a classic. I don't recall if opening the door opened the curtains pre-renovation, but a nice touch. The service remains impeccable -- always someone to help you, without it feeling intrusive. Breakfast is beautiful (beautiful really is the word). The New York Grill -- we still love the caviar dish and the steaks (and the brownie). In sum: so glad it's back, and so glad the renovation kept its essential spirit.

Park Hyatt Tokyo recently underwent a major renovation and officially reopened on the 9th. We checked in on the 10th, which was our last day in Japan. Although I never experienced the hotel prior to the renovation, the new design felt elegant, understated, and timeless—something I truly appreciated. The service was outstanding from start to finish. This is exactly why you choose to stay at a Park Hyatt. Our breakfast experience was phenomenal, both in terms of the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the service. While the hotel is a bit off from the nearest subway station, we didn’t mind the walk to Shinjuku Station, which took about 10–15 minutes. In fact, we extended our stay specifically to experience the newly renovated Park Hyatt Tokyo, and it was absolutely worth it.
