The Park Hyatt spans from the 39th to 52nd floor in the glass tower designed by Kenzo Tange. It is one of the best hotels in Tokyo and is a legend, best known for its starring role in Lost in Translation alongside Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson. It offers flawless service, views of Mount Fuji and one of the most atmospheric cocktail bars in the world. The guest rooms at Park Hyatt Tokyo are spacious and serene, each offering walk-in closets and high-tech amenities. All guestrooms are appointed with original artwork, exquisite woods and fabrics and books for reference and pleasure.

Subpar check-in, not worthy of a 5 star hotel. Near cherry blossom season, cash rates were $2,100+; Hyatt points (soon to be devalued) 45k. We chose this hotel for our anniversary, and as we're huge fans of Lost in Translation. We were looking forward to the renovated rooms. Check-in time was 3pm. We arrived at 4:15pm, yet our room still wasn't ready! After about 15 minutes, we finally had a room. But our luggage mysteriously didn't arrive until 45 minutes after getting into our room and only after multiple phonecalls asking for them. They never explained the delay. I suspect they delivered them to the wrong room, as our drinks reservation at New York Bar incorrectly stated our room number and they seemed confused when we told them our correct room number. By the time our luggage arrived, we had less than 30 minutes for a quick exercise at the famous rooftop fitness center, as we had reservations for drinks at New York Bar and didn't want to miss our Lost in Translation moment before dinner at Girandole. A few qualms about the renovated room, which was the cheapest they had on hand, but still at a very high price point. Surprisingly small windows. The TV faces the seating area and doesn't swing out of the wall to face the beds. The toilet area has no walls and so is exposed to the vanities of the bathroom. The automatic toilet seat is charming when it opens the first couple of times, but eventually becomes an annoyance popping up whenever you step near it. Checkout was cold and abrupt, with no questions asked how our stay was. This was not the level of quality we expected. On the plus side, the service and food and drink quality at New York Bar (esp. the L.I.T. cocktail), Girandole, and the patisserie were outstanding. Sadly, New York Grill was fully booked. And the gym and pool were quite nice, although I had to rush to get there after dinner. (Would have been nicer to enjoy them fully before drinks and dinner.) We had a lovely view from our room of the NTT Docomo Yoyogi building (reminiscent of the Empire State Bldg.) Would have dreaded the other side of the building on such as hazy day, obscuring the Mt. Fuju views). Compared to entry level room at the Conrad Tokyo, the Conrad was a more enjoyable experience, even though the latter tends to be at a lower price point. I'm going to need to think hard about future Hyatt stays, to consider whether we will get sufficient value.

Took a two week trip to Japan in Feb 2026 and started withe three nights in the Park Hyatt Hotel in Tokyo. Fantastic hotel and a great entry point to the country. It has been beautifully renovated. It is a luxury hotel and even though it is a bit on the corporate side, they were incredibly good with our family and went above and beyond when helping us host a (much) older Japanese friend who came to have brunch with us. A great combination of efficiency and kindness. Was convenient to the Shinjuku train station (although it is a bit of a walk- approx 10 min/quick 2 min drive in house car when we left for Hakone) while not being in the madness of Shinjuku. We were able to walk to Meiji-ji, but otherwise took cars and the subway to other parts of the city. Great pool, fantastic breakfasts, and the view (and food!) from the steak house restaurant is amazing. Our first day we saw Mt Fuji on our way to breakfast. It was nice to recover from jet lag in such a environment, got us off on the right start on our trip.

Fantastic hotel - great location, fresh rooms and wonderful customer service. Amazing views of the city with different aspects from the bars and restaurants.

I am writing this to formally denounce the deliberate dishonesty displayed by the Director of Rooms, Anna. To suggest that the pink mold in my shower—a blatant biological hazard—is actually a "natural stone reaction" is not just an insult to my intelligence; it is a fraudulent attempt to cover up a sanitation failure. Let be clear: "Serratia marcescens" (pink mold) is a bacteria, not a mineral property. By rebranding a health risk as an "aesthetic stone characteristic," the Director is gaslighting guests to avoid the cost of proper maintenance. This isn't a "new material" learning curve; it is a leadership team lying to a guest’s face to protect their metrics. WARNING TO FUTURE GUESTS: Management at this property has shown they will prioritize deceptive excuses over your health. If you see "discoloration" in your bathroom, know that they are aware of the mold and are choosing to let you shower in it while calling it "luxury stone." This is a premium-priced property with basement-level hygiene standards and zero transparency.
