We originally booked for the last week of February and the first week of March, flying Emirates via Dubai. BUT the US/Iran war intervened and our return flights were cancelled. so we ended up staying an extra nine nights in total. What a joy this hotel is. The Management and staff have a great guest focused ethic and could not be more helpful. The whole place is a peaceful oasis which serves excellent food with chefs who actually come to talk to guests after their meals. Nothing is too much trouble ,not even assisting with flight bookings(thank you Natacha),or extended accomodation deals. What more could you ask? David&Sandra

Great setting, amazing staff, and calming stay that I can't fault a thing.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

The setting, size and variety is amazing, but it's the staff that take the experience over the top. We had 9 nights at the Oberoi, and couldn't thank them enough for everything. Recognising the two special events we were celebrating, the housekeeping services were a very nice behind the scenes touch. The activities, from glass bottom boat, paddle boat, rum & wine tasting and the cooking class were all fun additions, and had they not been 'included' we may have missed it. I went for a long walk along the beach and checked out several other resorts. Some of their staff looked me in the eye and said hello, and others just politely walked past. Oberoi staff make the gesture to fold their hands and provide a happy and welcoming greeting throughout the day, regardless of their role (e.g. even the gardeners). Our stay was peaceful, yet there was still plenty to do and people around so that we could enjoy quiet time when we wanted and nice music and drinks in the bar when we wanted. The menu selections are plentiful and even though I am a picky eater, there was plenty to choose from and always prepared perfectly. I had assumed there would be more buffet style dishes, and appreciated the full a la carte menu. We have been so impressed with Oberoi we can't decide if we should return to Mauritius or try a visit to India or elsewhere. I hope that the service is an Oberoi belief and attitude and not just the success of one resort, but credit to all of the management team for creating such a wonderful culture. Two individuals I wanted to mention, although all were great. Justin who did the rum tasting was so enjoyable that we ended up looking for him in the bar to say hello and ask advice on other aspects of your resort. The rum tasting was fun and memorable, but I could definitely see Justin moving into a leadership role in your organisation as his talents are well above that of hosting a fun class and working in the bar. The other person was Rhubesh who did the wine tasting. We've done wine tasting before, but his knowledge and professionalism made it very interesting and done in a very nice and entertaining way like we've never experienced before. When relaxing on the sun loungers at the beach (or the pool) it was a nice touch to have fresh fruit kebabs, ice cream, and iced water dropped off without request. I've never had the check-in process not take place at Reception. Taking us to the viewpoint as a welcome and then doing the details of identification and deposit in our room was such a relaxing experience, others should do the same. As mentioned above, Justin as well as Rhubesh were names that stood out. Aditya (at the beach, not the GM) was very kind to us too. Aditya the GM was very pleasant by introducing himself and wishing us an excellent stay. This visit makes me eager to try another Oberoi property in another exciting location.

The best hotel in the world

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Over the years, we have stayed at five different resorts in Mauritius, and this is by far the best! Indeed, this is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in during many years of extensive travel around the globe. The architecture and gardens of the resort are stunning, the food is excellent, and the rooms are very comfortable. But most important of all, the kindness of the staff and the quality of their service is exceptional. There are too many wonderful staff to mention, but we would especially like to thank Aditya, Aum, Reyuni and Shaan in the restaurant, sommelier Rubash (sorry if wrong spelling), and our housekeepers, Ashna and Vinesh, whose towel sculptures were a delight. We have already booked to return in 2027!

Perfect Stay at Oberoi Mauritius!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

My husband and I are huge fans of Oberoi Group, so much so that we spend around 50 nights a year holidaying at their international and Indian properties (12 so far!) . It comes as no surprise to us that the group was awarded ‘Best Hotel Group in the World’ at the Telegraph Travel Awards 2025. Nor that our most favourite Oberoi property, Oberoi Mauritius, was judged to be the 3rd ‘Best Resort in the Indian Ocean’ in Conde Nast Traveller’s 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards, beating all other resorts on the island of Mauritius. We first holidayed at Oberoi Mauritius in 2012 and have had the pleasure of 12 stays including two in the last four months. The property itself is stunning and spread over an extensive beachfront area with single storey pavilions and villas, beautifully landscaped grounds, fabulous water features and an ‘escape from real life’ Robinson Crusoe feel. Quality throughout the property is superb and totally in keeping with its Mauritian location including historic ruins dotted around the grounds. A real differentiating feature of Oberoi Group is the uniqueness of each of their properties and respect for local style and heritage. All residences have every amenity you could wish for including outdoor terrace with dining area and sun loungers plus plenty of space and privacy between rooms. There’s a choice of two stunning outdoor pools (one of which is adult only), several tranquil beaches and no shortage of loungers and palm-strung hammocks to while the day away. The gym is well equipped and the spa offers tranquil open sided treatment rooms where you can receive an excellent massage amidst the sounds of local birdlife and a gentle breeze. The hotel offers a daily selection of complimentary wellbeing activities such as yoga and tai chi plus other pursuits including star gazing, wine tasting, various arts classes and water sports. Dining options are excellent with extensive menus in both the main Restaurant and On The Rocks, plus ‘not to be missed’ dining experiences in the historic Gunpowder Room or the outdoor Herb Trail. The chefs also love to show off their impressive culinary skills by preparing off-menu dishes to add even more choice. There’s certainly no danger, at Oberoi Mauritius, of becoming bored with the food choices available. Likewise the beverage options, including wine list, are wide ranging whether on the beach or at the main bar, where nightly live entertainment is a feature. A further added benefit is the location in the north west of Mauritius, which makes it the best place on the island for weather, with notably more sunshine and fewer rain showers than the east and the south coasts. THE most outstanding hallmark of all Oberoi properties is the people. The mantra ‘the guest is everything’ pervades throughout and is quite something to observe and experience. The whole team at Oberoi Mauritius, including ‘behind the scenes’ food preparation, gardening, back office and housekeeping (whose ‘towel art’ is wow), is an absolute credit to General Manager, Aditya, and his senior team Prashant, Thomas and the very wonderful Natacha. It’s not possible to name everyone but we’d like to particularly thank Aum, Oomar, Amal, Aditya, Shaan, Chef Singh, Chef Udit and superstars, Danav and Rabin, for making this stay as special as always. The Michelin Guide’s ‘Two MICHELIN Keys’ categorisation of Oberoi Mauritius is defined as ‘An exceptional stay’ and this says it all. We completely agree and can’t recommend it highly enough; you definitely won’t be disappointed.
