On the edge of the Grand Canal, five-star Ca' Sagredo Hotel holds the legacy of one of the most prominent noble families in Venice. The Sagredos bought the palace in the middle of the 17th Century and assembled an art collection of more than 800 paintings and 2,000 drawings dating from the Renaissance. Original art and antiques envelop guests during a stay that's more akin to time travel than a holiday. Upgrade to a suite for even plusher surroundings – the towering wardrobes in the Library Suite used to house Zaccaria Sagredo's literary collection.

Ca' Sagredo is as much a world-class museum as it is a well-sited, comfortable hotel. Located right on the Grand Canal within easy walking and water distance from just about anything in Venice, it is a magnificent, first-class hotel with equally impressive dining and hospitality. We were only able to stay one night but had we more time would have been delighted to extend our stay. Just know that while you're enjoying this magnificent hotel you're a part of history. Well worth the stay!

Historic, beautiful hotel. Way beyond expectations. Service was impeccable. Easily accessible by Water Ferry #1. About a one mile walk to St Mark's square. In a neighborhood loaded with restaurants but not as congested as the Rialto Bridge area. I loved our quirky, upstairs room #409. I would definitely stay here again.

A wonderful visit. Perfect location right next to water bus and gondola station. Rooms are magnificent, historic, very clean and quiet. A beautiful hotel and a great restaurant. Recommend to get a private water taxi direct to the hotel pier. It's not cheap but definitely worth it.

It looks like a Venetian Palace, but it doesn't feel like one. There's no way to make coffee in the room, and room service doesn't start until 8:00 in the morning so everyday at 7:00 I had to leave the hotel in search of coffee. And one more important thing- if you charge €800 a night and you advertise that you have a fitness center, you should actually have one.

When one considers the Ca’ Segredo Hotel, one has to remember the structure housing the hotel was a former small palace built several hundred years ago and is seated right on the Grand Canal with water literally a couple of feet below the back door. In other words, this is a very very old building built on the banks of the waterway and certain compromises need to be understood and accepted. That said, as a Hilton Diamond member, I received a generous upgrade to a Segredo Suite which is large and very lovely with a nice partial view of the canal. The downside, however, is the fact that the room has a noticeable slope that is certainly due to uneven settlement of the structure. I got used to it but it took a little while. I have a strong feeling most hotels on the island portion of Venice are similar. The furnishings are aged but do give a period feel. Bathroom is large and supplied with nice amenities including toothbrushes in addition to the usual rose scented body lotion soap and conditioner. Water is strong and very hot. So needs to mix cold water for to achieve a desired temperature. A pair of nice robes and slippers are supplied. There is a dressing area. Closet space is ample. There is a clothes steamer in the closet along with an in-room safe. There is a refrigerator that is half filled with minibar items so leave little room for the guest. The king mattress is made up of two twin mattresses so there is some sliding movement. The mattress is firm and both the pillows and beddings are very comfortable. Be aware the hotel provides only ONE key and it is a conventional instead of the usual card key. Breakfast is served in a side dinning room adjacent to the grand ballroom. Buffet breakfast is standard fare but excellent in quality and there are servers that take your coffee order. I get complimentary breakfast but if not included, the buffet breakfast costs €40 or there is a small a la carte menu. Most importantly, the hotel is located in an extremely convenient location on the island. The front door is 10 feet away from the Gondola crossing of the canal (€2) and adjacent to the d’Oro stop of the #1 Vaporetto ( water bus) stop. It is easy walking distance to all the major attractions including Piazza San Marco. It will become apparent why easy walking distance is so very important in Venice. And despite being there in the middle of the Carnival, my room was very quiet. Bottom line - you will pay more for this hotel because it is on the main island, an old palace, one of the SLH members and ultra conveniently located. For me, it is well worth the money. One advice. Book directly with the hotel or Hilton if possible. Perhaps you can even negotiate a rate including breakfast. You can book with a third party and get a rate substantially cheaper than the advertised rate but I have a strong feeling you will end up with a small room facing the nosier street and no chance of an upgrade. Also be beware there are extra taxes staying in Venice so don’t be surprised if the room ends up more than the advertised rate.

"Great location, easy access, great staff.”

“It’s a nice hotel, the staff is very attentive. However, although the rooms are lovely the main lobby and rest of the hotel is really nothing special.”

“I was satisfied with our room and the service of the staff. The only disappointment was the so called light lunch included in our package which actually translated to a bowl of nuts and a bowl of chips. But on the whole it is a beautiful hotel.”

Ca' Sagredo was a delightful experience. Located on the Grand Canal, just a stone's throw from the water bus stop and with its own water taxi dock for those who prefer that method of transfer, it was easy to get to. The hotel itself is very pleasant with an outside dining area right on the canal, or a small inside dining room. We had dinner one night at the hotel and found it to be delicious. The staff was competent and pleasant, and the room comfortable and reasonably spacious. I would recommend the hotel.

The setting on the Grand Canala made our fiftieth wedding anniversary really special. The Ca' Sagredo was a perfect spot to experience the magic and romantic history of Venice. The hotel is palatial with lovely murals, exquisite floors, classical furniture, glistening chandeliers and Murano glass light fixtures. The entire hotel staff was superlative and incredibly charming and helpful. The restaurant was excellent with a lavish breakfast buffet and candlelight dinners overlooking the gondolas and boats on the canal. The piece de resistance was our rooftop terrace attached to our luxurious suite. This is a hotel to remember and re-visit.

We spent four wonderful nights at the Ca' Sagredo Hotel. We found the staff to be efficient, helpful and courteous. They were unobtrusive yet available when we needed their assistance. The room was magnificent and very comfortable. It was cleaned quickly and well each morning, usually while we were out at breakfast. We were promised the best view available on our arrival and they followed through on the promise. Our water view room was only one back from the rooms fronting the canal and since it was on the third floor, the view was stunning. The food served at breakfast was delicious, offered a wide selection, and was served in two beautiful rooms by very gracious staff. From the minute we arrived we were made to feel very welcome and each staff member we encountered from our first contact to our last was wonderful. The hotel is truly a beautiful palace and we appreciate the excellent service provided by the entire staff.
