Venice, a captivating city which strikes the eye and moves the heart. Enveloped in the same magic, the Metropole offers you emotions involving all the senses. Eccentric, warm, eclectic, a place where the décor becomes an emotional experience, where each detail tells a story. A 5 star hotel that seduces and charms, a restaurant that surprises for its creative cuisine and the fame of its awards. Behind both of them, love, care and persistence. The resulting mood is incomparable. After all, here nothing happens by chance.

We loved the convenient location. The staff were pleasant and generally attentive. I did find having to leave and collect the room key every time we came or went, although charming, a bit of a nuisance. The room was clean and fresh. The reason for 3/5 review is based entirely on the quality of the mattress. In a word, awful. The king bed was two twins pushed together which is fine but the mattress I slept on was concrete hard and had a marked slope in the middle and a definite tilt towards the middle at the bottom. I could not get comfortable and woke each morning with achy shoulders, hips, and knees. I am not prone to any aches or pains. On our last night, a party was held in the courtyard below our window. Loud music played until 12:30 am. Frustrating as we had a 5:50 am departure to catch our flight. In fairness, I don’t know if the party was on hotel grounds or next door.

Amazing atmosphere of Venice carnival! The staff is fantastic, the services are superb, the vibes are amazing. Rooms are comfortable and vintage decorated. Breakfast is great and servers attend for your every wish. Spa is out of this world. Very close to San Marco square and all major Venice attractions.

This was our second stay at the Metropole and we, for sure, plan to come back. Metropole is one of the last Venetian hotels not owned by a hotel chain. The Hotel is located in an ancient palazzo on the Riva degli Schiavoni, where you can still breathe its legendary past. After it’s several reincarnations as a palazzo, hotel and WWII hospital, building was purchased and lovingly restored by Beggiato family. Beggiatos are passionate art collectors, who are generously sharing antique objects of beauty from their collections with their guests. Thousands of antiques, including unique collections of trunks and suitcases, fans, business card holders, evening bags, toiletries, corkscrews, crucifixes, headboards and furniture are displayed in common areas and are used to decorate rooms and suites. The Metropole is not just a hotel, it is a real museum, all to be discovered. The services and staff were excellent. We were pleasantly surprised by a free upgrade to a suite with a breathtaking view of the San Marco basin. The suite was spotless, beautifully decorated and cleaned promptly in the morning with a turndown service in the evening. The rooms and suites at this hotel are truly wonderful, each is a unique masterpiece of Venetian art. The Metropole has a great Oriental bar and bistro decorated with ancient armor and soft deep red velvet sofas. It is a perfect place to indulge in a cocktail and taste dishes inspired by Venice and the Orient. There is a secret garden where we collected a couple of oranges from the trees. We also booked and had a couple of gloriously soothing hours at the Spa relaxing in the Hammam looking into a small round window at the Venetian canal, soaking in the heated pool with hydro massage and drinking fragrant tea.

I just checked out this morning from Hotel Metropole in Venice and had high hopes based on its beautiful appearance and good location. While the hotel certainly has its charm my experience can only give it only 3 stars. Ok talk about the positives. The hotel is indeed beautiful and situated in a lovely area, making it convenient for exploring the streets of Venice. However, the service left much to be desired. Throughout our stay, I often felt that the staff was more put out by our presence than welcoming. One of the biggest disappointments was the king-size bed in our suite. It turned out to be two smaller beds pushed together with a mattress topper, which made for a very uncomfortable night’s sleep. Then add the noise from the neighboring room dogs that barked all three nights of our stay. We also encountered issues having our tea time at the hotel. The staff seemed indifferent to our presence, lacking the warm hospitality one would expect from a five-star establishment. On one occasion, we asked the front desk to make dinner reservations for us. After waiting over two hours with no update, we called to follow up, only to be told they hadn’t had any luck reaching the restaurant. So I called myself and to my surprise, they answered right away. This was not the level of service I’ve come to expect from this hotel brand especially based on my experiences in Taormina, where the service was far superior. Lastly, I was disappointed to discover that the hotel does not have its own gym. Instead, guests must walk to a facility located a blocks away to work out. For a hotel claiming to be five-star it was lacking. Hotel Metropole has a beautiful setting and good location, the service and accommodations fell short of expectations for a five-star hotel. I was never asked how is your stay going? Or is there any thing we can do for you?

Elegant hotel right on the Grand Canal, and close to all the sights a visitor wants to see while in Venice. Easy walking distance to restaurants and meeting points for excursions.
