About the Hotel

A unique location, overlooking the Grand Canal, Palazzo Barocci emerges like a gem amongst the streets and alleys of the city. Originally built in the 1300s as a domus maioris, this building became Teatro Sant’Angelo in 1676 and was first transformed into a private home and then into a hotel. Palazzo Barocci is the story of an unforgettable part of Venetian history: that of concerts and premieres, that of musicians, writers and immortal characters like Vivaldi and Goldoni.

Reviews for Palazzo Barocci

Food service was disappointing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Upon arrival the check in was smooth, we decided to allow the hotel to book a private boat to pick us up from the train station and take us to the hotel. We did pay the driver directly. We stayed here for two nights and decided to order a pizza before turning in for the evening on the second night. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. The pizza was served cold — not just lukewarm, but genuinely cold to the touch, as though it had been taken straight from a refrigerator or freezer and insufficiently heated. What made the situation worse was how it was handled. After we pointed it out, the staff took the same pizza back to the kitchen and simply reheated it before returning it to us. It was obvious it was the same pizza because the slices were still separated exactly where we had cut into it. At a hotel of this caliber, I would have expected a freshly made replacement and a more professional response. When we mentioned this to the server, she grew frustrated with the cooks and took it back again. At that point, we lost confidence in the food service altogether and decided to return to our room without dinner. For a hotel that presents itself as high-end, this was genuinely one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve had.

Great location- next to San Angelo vaporetto stop

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

This hotel is a wonderful experience. It is on the Grand Canal, has its own boat pier and is just a few feet away from the San Angelo vaporetto stop. Though the building is 18th century, the rooms are modern, well designed with good lighting, and electrical outlets everywhere. I had room 108, which had a lot of light with its three windows. There is a slight view of a courtyard which is currently (March 2026) being remodeled. The breakfast buffet is generous with eggs to order. Beware the Philadelphia cream cheese packets. Apparently they had not been refrigerated properly or were out of date and the cheese had “turned.” Staff is friendly and helpful. I would love to stay here again in the future.

Great Place to Stay on the Grand Canal

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Pros: 1. Location: Right next to the water taxi station, on the Grand Canal. Very convenient if you want to take the public water taxi from the station or to go to St Mark's Square or anywhere else. The hotel also provides a private water taxi for the station, if guests want 2. Hotel: We had a lovely room on the 3rd floor - spacious, with a large bathroom, and a dedicated terrace with deck chairs and seating. The room was clean, and comfortable. It had a coffee machine and they gave us a bottle of water. The hotel front office staff was quite helpful. The hotel is also walking distance to Rialto Bridge. Cons: 1. Not much really. It is a little bit of a walk to St Marks Square (but it did not matter to us since we love walking). I would love to return to this property

A Gem on the Grand Canal

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

A very nice hotel on the grand canal. The staff was very helpful. They handled dinner reservations and efficiently checked us in. Barnabah at the desk recommended some wonderful places to eat, and helped us get our luggage to the water taxi. Christina who waited on us and tended bar was excellent with our food and drink requests and told us about more places to explore. Nickolas the restaurant manager was there every day checking on how the food and service were. The room was clean. The breakfast buffet had some excellent pastries. The servers were quick and efficient. It's central location means your not far from anything.
