Couldn't have had a better place to stay following our Danube Christmas Markets cruise. Easy check-in, warmly greeted by staff who told me they'd assigned a special junior suite. There was a luggage snafu when transferring from the boat, but staff completely took that over & quickly solved the issue. The suite was spaciously regal & included an upright piano! While in the lobby that evening I was greeted by name & asked how I liked my suite. I asked how they knew I played piano. There was a small gift of sweets & a postcard with a welcome note informing me that the hotel would mail the postcard for me. Breakfast was excellent with both buffet & menu ala carte items included in my stay as a Bonvoy Platinum member. When leaving the next day I was gifted with a pretty magnet of the hotel. Imperial is a perfect name for this hotel - everything about it was just that.

The Hotel Imperial in Vienna (a Marriott Luxury Collection Hotel) is publicized as an opulent oasis in the heart of Vienna. The location is outstanding and the hotel itself has a very storied history including visits by European and British royalty but you pay significantly for the privilege of staying there (>$800 per night). Unfortunately, the quality of the rooms and the service is well below hotels that charge less than a quarter of that amount. Pro's and con's from our stay included: Pros - Location: could not be better, right in the heart of the city and close to museums, restaurants and night life. We were there to see the Christmas Markets and several were within easy walking distance; - Bed: Very comfortable; - Front Desk staff: very friendly and welcoming; - Breakfast in the Oasis cafe was outstanding and very expansive - Noise level was excellent. We had inward-facing rooms but noted virtually no street noise anywhere in the hotel. Cons - Our luggage was delivered to the hotel yet still didn't get to our room for 5-1/2 hours despite several calls to the bellhop that it would be right up. Ultimately, we retrieved it ourselves from the bellhop storage area; - Bathroom was very substandard. Extremely small (claustrophobic) shower with mold coming through the grout lines. The two light fixtures in the shower included one burned out bulb and the other was partially detached from the ceiling; - Hot water was almost non-existent. It took a full 7 minutes of the sink faucet running to get warm water to our room for a shower; - Electrical had only European standards, no USB ports for charging nor US compatible outlets (fortunately, we had an adapter with us); - Our room, while no doubt intending to appear opulent, instead seemed faded and dim. The curtains framing the bed area looked "tired." The brightest thing in the room was a very nice blooming orchid. - Very little English language programming on the TV and only Android casting was supported. We've stayed in castles in Ireland and Europe that lived up to their reputation and were value propositions for special events. The Hotel Imperial failed in that regard. We did get a response to feedback from the hotel's front desk manager that hoped we'd consider another opportunity to visit in the future. Sorry - while we will go back to Vienna sometime, we will definitely not be shelling out the bucks for such an underwhelming experience.

We stayed at Hotel Imperial for three nights and truly appreciated its timeless elegance and historic grandeur. The hotel embodies classic luxury and offers a beautifully preserved vintage atmosphere, making it especially lovely for photography. We booked two connecting rooms, which were spacious and thoughtfully appointed. The bathrooms were particularly well designed, each featuring double sinks, adding to the overall comfort of our stay. The location is excellent, with the main shopping district reachable within a pleasant 15-minute walk. Our only note would be the afternoon tea experience, which did not quite match the level of refinement found in similar hotels elsewhere. A broader selection, particularly with more suitable options for Muslim and vegan guests, would have enhanced the experience, especially considering the price point. Overall, Hotel Imperial offers a memorable and elegant stay and is well worth experiencing. We would simply recommend avoiding a visit around December 25–26, when many venues are closed and restaurant wait times can be lengthy. Would we return? Yes—at a different time of year.

What a fabulous Hotel and experience. Everything was amazing from the desk staff to the restaurant staff. Atilla was very helpful. We stayed as part of a Tauck tour and couldn't have been treated any better. Lots of chocolate and superior service. It's a great location for walking to many sights in Vienna.

For our 25th Anniversary, we treated ourselves to a two night stay at the Hotel Imperial during our trip through Austria. What an extraordinary hotel. From the stunningly beautiful bar, to the service, the glorious café, and the extra touches, we loved truly every minute of our stay. The rooms have an old-world charm, and despite being in a large city the room was absolutely quiet and lovely. The hotel treated us to a wonderful arrival: champagne and flowers, and on our last day we found a gift from St Nicholas: fruit and chocolate as we left. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
