The hotel: This was my first trip to Vienna. I selected Hotel Sacher based on the many reviews of its' old school charm. I was not disappointed. The building itself is beautiful. Since I stayed during the holiday season, the lobby area was warm and inviting with a large Christmas tree and holiday decor. Check-in was easy and staff expertly communicated in both English and German. The room: Old school luxury. I loved the marble bathroom (complete with tub), and well as the interior room design. Each room had it's own unique paintings. I booked two rooms as I stayed with family. The rooms had small design differences to set them apart. The mini-bar was stocked with nice juices, waters, and alcoholic beverages (for purchase). I loved the fresh roses. The rooms were very clean and housekeeping provided daily cleaning as well as turndown service. There were no wifi issues during my visit. I had a wonderful view of the opera house next door. Breakfast: DO NOT skip the buffet breakfast. This was a highlight of my stay. There were so many food options, including the famed Sachertorte. The staff servicing this area were also wonderful. I tried my best to practice the German I knew and they were very polite and respectful with my attempts :) Spa: I decided to treat myself to a massage during my stay. Lina the masseuse was incredible. The space was small and comfortable. I did not get to use the steam room or sauna, but it was good to know those amenities were available. Concierge: For the most part concierge was helpful and always available. I was misinformed about one small thing, but it wasn't a dealbreaker for my stay. The area: The primary purpose of my trip was to visit many of the Vienna Christmas markets. This hotel is in an excellent location. Many markets were within walking distance. Trams, the underground trains, buses, and taxis are plentiful and close by. The taxi ride from the airport is about 25 minutes, but could take up to 45 minutes during peak traffic. The area is very safe and I walked around at all times of day. Summary: + Clean + Great area - Can be expensive

I truly enjoyed the cozy and classic ambiance of the café, which made for a lovely family evening. The only downside was the waiting time on Christmas Eve, which was approximately 1.5 hours—understandable given the holiday, yet still quite long. Unfortunately, the waiting experience could have been better managed. While we were in line, a couple joined the queue ahead of us by introducing themselves to others as if they were together, despite having entered and seated themselves separately. Having clearer queue controls or a ticketing system would help ensure a fair and more pleasant experience for all guests. As for the food, while the café is renowned for its chocolate cake, it wasn’t quite to my taste—I found it a bit dry and lacking in flavor. That said, preferences do differ, and many clearly enjoy it. I can’t recall the exact pricing, but overall, it was a warm and cozy dinner with family, and the atmosphere itself made the visit memorable.

The Sacher is quite simply an exceptional hotel. Our room was just right in all respects, enough space to move around and settle. The staff were cheerful, kind and efficient. The concierge staff were great, particularly the junior concierge Emma, who worked on us and made excellent recommendations and handled everything. Overall we would stay there again, it was a comfortable place to unwind which was the most important and decisive factor.
