Hotel Sacher Vienna

5 out of 5 stars We headed to the Blaue Bar in the Hotel Sacher Vienna and ordered caviar and champagne, which met all our expectations. The caviar was very good, and the champagne even better! Thank you for a great experience; we will definitely be back.

Hotel Sacher Vienna – Review Hotel Sacher Vienna is a beautiful, traditional hotel that clearly values its heritage and elegance. The staff are, on the whole, friendly and attentive, and the reception team in particular provided excellent service. They were consistently helpful, professional, and welcoming, which made a very positive first impression. However, several aspects of the stay fell noticeably short of the standard expected of a hotel of this calibre. We dined in the main dining room on one evening, and the service was exceptionally slow. The length of time taken to be served was disproportionate and detracted significantly from what should have been a highlight of the stay. The experience felt disorganised rather than refined. Housekeeping was also inconsistent. Turndown service was provided on only one of the nights. On returning to our room after the lengthy dinner, the room was exactly as we had left it, with used wine glasses, tea cups, and an unrefreshed bathroom. This lack of attention to detail was disappointing. Breakfast service was another area of concern. We waited approximately 30 minutes for our eggs, while a table of four guests seated after us were served their hot breakfasts promptly. The disparity in service was noticeable and again suggested a lack of coordination. In addition, there was a level of disruption within the public areas that the hotel did not appear to manage effectively. On more than one occasion, groups who appeared to be influencers were moving through the hotel posing and photographing themselves exactly where they wished, including directly in front of our table while we were enjoying tea. They did not ask permission from other guests, and there seemed to be no meaningful restrictions on where photography could take place, including in dining areas. This detracted from the atmosphere and privacy that many guests expect in a traditional hotel of this standard. While the hotel has many strengths and undeniable charm, these service and guest-experience issues had a significant impact on the overall stay. On this basis, I can only award Hotel Sacher Vienna three stars.

I thought it would be nice but not this nice. Centrally located and too beautiful to be merely charming. It is a reason to go to Vienna. My room was grand and wonderfully decorated. It was comfortable, clean, and quiet. The restaurants were great. The food, the service, and the decor were first rate. And don’t even get me started on the Blaeu Bar: wonderful, intimate, and just beautiful. ( I’m sorry for multiple uses of “beautiful,” but it is necessary.) I’ll review two of the other restaurants individually.
