4 star at best

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

This hotel is at best a 4 star in our opinion and not comparable with other 5 star hotels we have used over the past 15 odd years. The only 5 star aspect was the breakfasts although even these were served in what is a small bar area. The lobby area is small, staff apart from the Porter ( or whatever his role is ) were not helpful and in the case of the member of staff who came to our room and gave us a lecture on Viennas green policy was glib. This was especially irritating as the room had not been aired and on our entry was 25degrees C on a hot day. Our luxury room was spacious, but as far away as you could get, almost in the next property. The outside view was of a dingy courtyard, damp and full of air conditioning ducts. Below our window were 4 enormous fans. Not to be recommended. The room had a tired feeling. After a long and hot day travelling we wanted to eat in the hotel as we had a 5am start the next day. This was deemed not possible and fully booked. Fair enough, we then asked to sit in the bar and eat. Again not possible fully booked, so we had to tramp around the city looking for somewhere to eat, not realising it was Ascension Day so many places were shut. It would have been useful for reception to have told us this, but no. We returned to the hotel at 8.45 for a coffee, the bar had 4 people in it, so not fully booked. Whilst we were there other guests entered, they had not booked and ordered meals. When we asked why we had not been allowed to do the very same earlier, we received a totally implausible reason which stretched credibility to a ridiculous level. From that time on we did not avail ourselves of anything this hotel had to offer and used it as a place to sleep only! That’s all it was fit for. A very unpleasant experience all the more so as we booked directly with the hotel and not via one cheap deal sites so the hotel did not have money skimmed off. A shout to the maids who did their jobs well. We will not return on our next trip to Vienna nor use this brand again.

Complimentary champagne, coffee and charm in Vienna!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I booked this hotel based on the glowing reviews on tripadvisor. The trip was the celebrate my mum's 'important' birthday, and I wanted to find somewhere really special to stay. From email enquiries, to the moment we left, Hotel Sans Souci Vienna exceeded our expectations. The hotel arranged a private transfer directly to the hotel, and our room was ready even though we were early in the morning. We were offered a complimentary drink, before being shown to our room. The room was spotlessly clean and very large. The beds are super comfortable. It would have been nice to have a bath in the room as we had a busy sightseeing trip, but I hadn't asked for this so it wasn't an issue at all. The steam rooms, sauna and pool were absolutely brilliant, so bath not needed in the end for aching leg muscles! Complimentary coffee is served to your room free of charge if you call house keeping. This was a special touch and very welcome as we arrived back at the room after a day sightseeing. The concierge team were really helpful for any questions we had. The breakfast team were very friendly, and arranged a complimentary sacher torte on my mum's birthday day. We had champagne 2 of the 3 breakfast days we stayed at the hotel. This is complimentary, but you have to ask (we didn't on the first morning, but did thereafter once double checking at reception). The breakfast itself was excellent, and we were not hurried and could help ourselves to both the cooked and buffet breakfast (we had a big breakfast so we could skip lunch and see more art instead!) There was some building work to the restaurant during our stay, so the breakfast was split over 2 different rooms. The service was slightly chaotic due to the staff having to split their time over the two rooms, but they were so friendly, there was no issue and we had a lovely time. The spa was really lovely, long opening hours and very tidy/well-attended by the spa staff. Plenty of towels and toiletries to use. The pool was a real highlight to my evenings. Although i feel the other guests used it for a light dip rather than a proper swim as I did (although I tried to time my swim just before closing time so not to ruin others leisure time!). 2 different heated saunas and 1 small steam room in the spa. I didn't use the gym, but the equipment looked high specification. The hotel location is fabulous for museums and galleries. We even walked from the Belvedere gallery back to the hotel, although everything else was much closer. There is a spar mini market next door for food and supplies. There are lots of small restaurants if you turn right out of the hotel, including a delicious burger restaurant. Overall, I am absolutely delighted to have chosen to stay at this hotel. I think probably the best I have stayed at, and I would love to visit again and bring my husband to vienna. The hotel arranged for a private transfer back to the airport at very short notice on our leaving day too (we were due to use the subway, but mum was used to luxury and champagne by day 4 in vienna!). Thank you Hotel Sans Souci!

Boutique hotel in central Vienna

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We stayed 3nights here on a B&B basis. The standard room was a decent size with very comfortable bed and pillows. It was overlooking a courtyard so was very quiet. It was well equipped with decent minibar and safe ,lots of hanging space . Nice modern clean bathroom with good towels and d robes and Molton brown toiletries. Nice shower. All the staff were really friendly and very helpful at the front desk or in the restaurant. It is in a very good position literally 10 minutes walk from the Hofburg and in the heart of the museum quarter. They do valet parking for a car if needed . The breakfast was really nice with a good selection of hot dishes and various viennoiseries. I must say the Apple strudel was amazing !! We also had lunch and dinner which were very good . Dinner menu is a bit unusual as lots of small dishes rather than normal portions . The schnitzel is delicious ! Very good selection of drinks also and they do a champagne tasting menu. Didn’t try the spa but there’s a long swimming pool but water is a bit fresh 27 degrees. And they have steam rooms . A perfect place to stay while in Vienna

Wonderful hotel with great food, facilities and staff. We loved it and would definitely stay again. Great location with a short walk to the centre and restaurants nearby. The staff are excellent and the hotel is very clean with great care taken to the small details. As soon as you walk in you’re met with a warm welcome and the most amazing smell. Would definitely recommend for your stay in beautiful Vienna
