Reviews for Melrose Georgetown Hotel

Nice, elegant hotel in a quiet area of D.C.

We had a pleasant stay with my friend in this hotel. We liked the ambiance both of our room (Deluxe King Room) and of the hotel lobby. The location is very good with a bus stop just at the corner, which serves 2-3 bus lines. Also the Foggy Bottom tube station is about 5 minutes walk. We have enjoyed our stay, had no problem at all, the room was nice and spotless, check in and check out went quickly and an airport transfer was organized for us also perfectly, that we requested one day before our departure. Only disappointment was that they charged this historic building maintenance fee per night, however the hotel did not look like a historic, old house to me! Anyway, we would return here on the occasion of a next visit, hopefully sometime in the not too distant future.

Could be better

The location is good. Not exactly in the heart of Georgetown, it’s about 15 minutes walk. Same goes for the main attractions such as Lincoln memorial, that was about 25 minutes walk. Front desk is very friendly. The lobby is nice and large with lots of seats. The room is very spacious , we had a king bed room on the second floor. But the room is very dated. The carpet had lots of stains. The shower head drips and looks like it should be replaced. Molding around the room could be clean a little better. Overall, have lots of potential to be great but need a refresh. With fees, it’s over $300 a night on a Wednesday night, with that price, not even complimentary water in the room. A bottle of water was $10!

Large Suite in Heart of Washington DC

Lovely stay and first time I have used a valet service. It was all smoothly arranged by the hotel and Rafika bought our car back very efficiently when we were ready to leave. Finally the suite was large for a city centre hotel and very well located for a full tour of the city.

Wonderful Staff

Hotel staff was very pleasant, helpful and quick to respond to our needs. Mohammad, the doorman was especially helpful. We’ve stayed here over the years when in town for work and appreciate the consistency in quality service and hospitality.

Lovely hotel but very difficult reservation/check-in process

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We made several bookings at the Melrose for a company function. The hotel was very nice and the rooms were comfortable. The administrative side, however, was a disaster. We were promised by the Reservation staff that we would not be paying the Historic Fee. I asked for written confirmation of that promise, and they said they would have the hotel send it. It never arrived and we all paid the fee in our room charges. I asked for all room charges to go on our company cc, and every one of us was charged either an incidental fee or the full amount on our private cards. A very helpful young man on the front desk (Geo) tried to help, but was only able to change some of the charges over to our card due to time constraints. I would not hesitate to stay here again if only I could be sure the administrative side would go as promised. Please also be aware that it is a "cashless" hotel, and you cannot get change at the front desk for tips although they force tippable services on you, such as the valet not allowing you to take your own bag up to your room.
