Riggs Washington DC is housed in a former bank building, thoughtfully reimagined into a striking boutique hotel that blends neoclassical architecture with playful, design-forward interiors. Guest rooms and suites feature rich textures, custom furnishings, and subtle nods to the building’s financial past, including safes and vault-inspired details. Amenities include a fitness center, curated programming, and lively communal spaces that feel both sophisticated and creative. The overall theme merges history with modern personality, creating a stay that is as visually compelling as it is comfortable.
Dining, wellness, and location define the experience. The hotel is home to Café Riggs, a grand brasserie serving French-inspired cuisine in a dramatic former banking hall, as well as Silver Lyan, an award-winning cocktail bar known for its inventive drinks and immersive atmosphere.

I really wanted to love this hotel as the property is beautiful, but unfortunately service falls off. From the beginning to the end we had terrible experiences with the staff: when we checked in the front desk employee was rude and unhelpful- more concerned about moving on to the next guest than assist us. Then during breakfast at the restaurant, the manager told us that waiting time for a table was “two hours” - which was clearly made up as there were several open tables that never filled up (I guess he wanted to “save” those for customers without breakfast included like us….) Then waiting time for food or any service was super long given that they were short staffed or hired inexperienced employees. I really hope they improve their service quality and professionalism pmas these made my stay quite unpleasant and unwilling to go back.

We had a great time at the Riggs hotel. Staff was very friendly. Mr. D.C. (the bell captain) knows all there is to know about D.C. and where to eat. He is extremely helpful and friendly. Honestly, the staff here made the entire trip much more enjoyable.

I booked my room through the Amex "The Hotel Collection" and it was definitely one of the nicest hotels and stays we had in DC for the last 10 years. We were upgraded from an Atelier Suite to one of the First Lady Suites and it was gorgeous! The room looked just as great as it did in the pictures. Probably even better because of all the sunlight coming into the room. My wife was so impressed. We had communicated with Latoya, from Concierge beforehand and she was able to get items delivered to the room upon our arrival and before we made it in the room. Coach took our bags to the room and was very personable and friendly. EVERYONE that we interacted with from the bartenders at Cafe Riggs to our bartender and wait staff at Silver Lyan were all 5 stars. I was also able to use my cell phone to text with the front desk to get breakfast in bed delivered to my wife as a surprise. We will definitely be coming back to the Riggs. This is a 5 Star Large Hotel, but has the feel of a boutique hotel. We stayed for two days and by the afternoon, the doormen knew my name and welcomed me back by name whenever we came back to the Hotel. We were also given plenty of complimentary champagne whether in the Cafe and when welcomed back to the hotel. If you are thinking about staying here, you won't regret it.

My experience at the Riggs Hotel was exceptional. The bell captain, Garnett, made me feel welcome with his warm demeanor and attention to detail. I was surprised by and immensely grateful for the welcome champagne and kind note that was sent to my room! The rooms are beautifully decorated with an appreciation for the history of Riggs Bank (a fascinating, storied, and uniquely DC building). I highly recommend. I will be returning to enjoy more of what the hotel has to offer!

Very attentive from the valet and bellhop captain, all the way through breakfast and back out the door! If you don’t wanna leave the premises, they have everything on site but also in a great part of town for museums, etc.Special thanks to Garnett!
