Salamander Washington DC is a gorgeous hotel with luxurious rooms and excellent views of Washington, DC. I especially appreciated the phenomenal customer service by Sofia Dyjewska at the front desk. She handled and addressed all of my issues and knows how to provide white glove customer service. Kudos to the Salamander for hiring such talented and friendly team members.

For the price point, you would expect a 5 star stay and if all went well - I could see that being the case. There was a larger group that booked a stay for a business retreat and they seemed to be the main priority when it came to check-in and overall that could be the reason that it didn't feel like the price point matched the service/stay. There were several times that the front desk felt "empty" and had patrons, including myself - waiting for at least 5 minutes or more. The rooms were amazing and definitely felt luxurious. The Lounge was decent for a drink or two, we didn't great breakfast but we did get lunch. The food was okay, however the waiter gave us our check before we even asked even though it was obvious that we were looking to linger a bit longer and order some food. Overall, the property is beautiful and in a great location. I can't say enough about the cleaning staff and valet services. Again, my main issue is just how much you pay - you should be getting 5 star service...regardless of who else is staying at the hotel.

My husband and I had an exceptional stay at the Salamander! The amenities were up to par, the sheets and towels were of high-quality and our dining experience at Dogon were to die for! We'll be back!

We had an amazing stay at Salamander! Mr. Malik was extremely helpful during our stay and his service made this trip exceptional. We need more people like him in the service industry!

This place is way overpriced for what it offers. Decorated nicely and the room was large and clean. The room NEVER warmed up (confirmed also with several guests in different rooms). The lounge restaurant was terrible. Service was lacking (slow), food was mediocre and expensive ($80 for two soups, one ice tea, and a shared club sand, which was subpar and tasteless). There's The Pearl district about 1/2 mile (and across a highway), but too far to walk if it's bad weather. So, you're stuck at the hotel for food, and the menu is limited. The "coffee" machine is incapable of serving just hot water. So, forget bringing you own tea bag or cocoa. But the worst was leaving a $20 reuseable, neoprene ice pack in the fridge. They were going to charge over $45 (that was the minimum!) to send it back. Obviously, not going to happen. Neither would I choose to stay again. There are SO many other choices in DC.

Not up to the standards of our stay at previously booked luxury link hotels. No in room coffee bar, no mini bar, blamed everything on Covid, and they were a new hotel, we would not stay there again. Definitely not 5 star, location good, no ice maker you had to call for it.
