Stay in the heart of Navy Yards, D.C.'s hippest neighborhood. Thompson Washington D.C. is situated in the historic Navy Yards, near the waterfront and Anacostia Riverwalk Trail and where dining, nightlife and shopping surround. Designed to be a gathering place, Thompson Washington D.C. brings people together for an elevated hospitality experience and pays homage to the neighborhood’s storied past. The 225 rooms and suites all feature hardwood floors, oversized windows and custom furnishings. Many of the rooms have views of Nationals Park or river views. Upgrade your stay to a suite or to a room with a balcony. Hotel is an ideal location 1 mile from the US Capitol, 2 blocks from Nationals Park, 3 blocks from the Metro and with easy access to all the museums and monuments that DC has to offer.

This is an excellent hotel in the Navy Yard. It's a quieter area of DC but still close the Pentagon and the main DC area. Breakfast is excellent and relaxing. The barista is GREAT. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. You can easily walk to many restaurants.

Nice hotel, but the rooms were very noisy. The lobby was also very busy and noisy. The decor was nice, the room was clean, the bathroom was a bit more focused on decor rather than functionality with an open shower.

I have never given a Hyatt property less than 5 stars but the Thompson fell just a little short. First, the positive: Rooms are clean and beds are very comfortable. Location is great and out of the DC hustle. Toiletries are very nice. Love the big bottles. Did not try to food/bar so cannot comment. Staff is very nice. The negatives: lighting in rooms is dim. Building across street is close so didn’t want curtains open all the time. No ice machines. I suppose there is some environmental reason but with 90 degree plus weather it is nice to ice a drink in your room without having to call for delivery or go to bar. It is inconvenient. When I checked in I asked if I could get complimentary upgrade which I have always received whether using points or money. Hotel was not fully booked. He was typing away, never said a word then handed me my keys. Room was nice, but was standard king as I had booked. These rooms have only a desk chair and a bench. Not helpful if you have a guest. He could have at least acknowledged yes or no to upgrade. These things may seem petty to some, but, as mentioned, I have stayed at a lot of Hyatts and the Thompson in DC fell a little short. But I would stay there again if I wanted to be in that area.

Fantastic place to stay, close to a lot of food choices, the Nationals’ ballpark, and the Navy Yard, just a block away from the hotel

The Thompson was a great stay for my sister and I, having some much needed girl time. All of the attention to detail they put into every area, makes the guest experience top tier. We were assisted by the valet Ryan, who was a gentleman and very helpful with all of the info we needed to know. We will be back
