We booked a room block and stayed at The Thompson for our wedding in April 2024. Throughout the process of booking our room block, it was extremely difficult to get in contact with a member of the sales team. I had to call and email the sales team several times, often times going weeks without a response from them. On one occasion, I had to escalate my communications to the manager in order to receive a response from the sales team. In addition, I requested early check in when I booked the Thompson Suite in June 2023 only to be told days before my wedding that both Thompson Suites had been granted late check out and they were unsure if they would be able to fulfill my request for early check in despite making the request almost a year in advance of our stay. The front desk staff was fantastic and pulled some strings to ensure we were granted early check in on the day of. The hotel was beautiful and we were very happy with our room and the service received once we had checked in. They provided us a complementary bottle of champagne and plate of assorted desserts and were quick to respond to any requests for glasses, ice, etc. Overall, the hotel is fabulous, but the sales and booking department are extremely hard to work with and leave you hanging until the last minute which is not ideal - especially for an event like a wedding.

Stayed here to celebrate a relative’s graduation from American University and was impressed beyond measure with the staff’s professionalism and service. From valet and check-in until my departure, nothing was missed or fumbled. Bartenders were all skilled at crafting drinks and carrying conversations, making it easy for us to decide to keep the celebration at the Thompson instead of venturing out. Try the lamb sliders if you’re looking for a bite to eat and definitely check out the rooftop bar/lounge for change of scenery.

The Thompson DC is a beautiful hotel and my stay exceeded my expectations. Will definitely stay here again.

Rooms on the south side of the building are SO dark, even during the day. Needs more lighting. The desk in the room was so small and flimsy as to not be very functional. Why no mini fridges in the room? Can make a big difference to have a cold drink at the end of a long hot DC day. And room service only begins at 5:00 pm.

THE WORST SERVICE!!! Food and Beverage just needs leadership! Breakfast you get water juice and coffee last 😡got steak and eggs with no steak 😡 it was a daily thing FOOD WAS FANTASTIC 👍bravo! If you have AMEX no upgrade 😡when I arrived clearly not busy!!! standard room (nice)! Only a very small desk chair!! Nowhere to sit but the bed 😡 and they had a room service menu 😳 no place to eat
