The Watergate is a lovely, well-located hotel in Washington, DC. I booked a last-minute spa staycation and had a wonderful experience. I was able to check in quite early on a Saturday, which was a great start to the weekend. I reserved a base-level room and was pleasantly upgraded to a river-view room. While the room itself was on the smaller side, it was thoughtfully laid out and featured a beautiful mid-century modern aesthetic that carries throughout the hotel. The bathroom was spacious and well designed. One thing to note is that the walls are fairly thin, and I could clearly hear conversations from the neighboring room. The spa is compact but clean and efficiently designed, with an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, and fitness area. After treatments, guests are offered a glass of prosecco, which is a nice touch. I had a hot stone massage that was excellent, and the therapist was both skilled and friendly. Hotel guests also have access to the pool and thermal areas, which makes it easy to turn a treatment into a full afternoon of relaxation. In my opinion, this is one of the best hotel and spa combinations for a DC staycation. It feels upscale without being over the top, and the pricing is reasonable for the experience. If you book a rate that includes hotel credit, it can be applied toward spa services, which adds even more value. The common areas are spotless, quiet, and peaceful, giving the entire property a calm, almost zen-like atmosphere. While the rooftop bar is closed in the winter, there are still inviting spaces to step outside for fresh air. The location is ideal, close to Georgetown and Foggy Bottom, with easy access to the rest of the city. Overall, it’s a refined yet relaxed option for a restorative getaway close to home.

I stayed at the Watergate hotel on 02/26/2026-02/27/2026 for business reasons. When I arrived my room wifi was not working and I was unable to get my laptop to connect to my work calls. The staff at the Watergate hotel were exceptionally accommodating and upgraded my room to a better room, they also helped me connect to the wifi and let me have a late check out. Everyone was so nice and I highly recommend you stay here for your next visit to Washington, DC.

The level of commitment from the staff is truly remarkable. I had a concern about a specific issue, and within less than 60 minutes, I was personally contacted to find a solution. Beyond the issue itself, I want to highlight and sincerely thank the entire team for their exceptional dedication in every role: from housekeeping and room arrangements, to the front desk, the restaurant staff, and the management team. I only wish I had had the chance to visit the Scandal Room, but perhaps on a future stay. My appreciation and recognition to everyone for such an outstanding level of service and commitment.
