The Watergate Hotel

The staff was the best part of the stay. They were great. The rooms were nice and pretty spacious. My only reasons for 4 stars instead of 5, is the high price and the fact that the walls seemed to be paper thin. I heard everything my neighbors did. Every. Thing. And they weren’t loud people. I gratefully travel with a noise machine, but between my neighbors, the construction, and the planned fire alarm, I was exhausted. I know construction and fire alarms aren’t your fault. I’m just saying there were multiple reasons the thin walls were an issue.

Jacintan was so accommodating and to be honest we were being difficult. We are here to celebrate our son’s graduation at AU.

So I booked based off of reviews , social media, and marketing promotions. I was so on the fence when booking but overall decided to. Book based on the spa. Upon arrival I was a little underwhelmed but Jacintah out front desk concierge turned the whole trip around reassuring us that she would make sure that we enjoyed our stay. I am so thankful that customer service excellence still exist. She made some adjustments and the room was Perfect for mini staycation . I recommend 100%

Jacintah was very friendly and helpful I wish all guest service attendants were as hospitable as her . She was very informative and helped make our trip an amazing experience. I would highly recommend!

I checked out last night (19 Nov 2025) after staying one night at the Watergate Hotel. The good: - Excellent location right by the Kennedy Center - Friendly and helpful staff. I couldn't get a late check out but fair enough; hotel was fully booked. - Clean and spacious room - I didn't use the gym and spa but I took a peek and they looked quite nice - Included breakfast was OK The bad: There was a surprise 'resort fee' of $48.98 that was charged to my credit card. When I asked about it I was told that is different from the booking fee in that I pay it at the hotel, not while booking. Apparently the papar I signed when I checked in included a reference to it. ... Which is completely ridiculous in my opinion. I've stayed in hotels all over the world and this is *not* standard practice. I can't help but feel like this is a form of extortion, and it surprises me that this kind of thing is legal. I wouldn't mind the extra cost if it were transparent and included in the original booking price which was covered by my company, but springing it on me after I check out strikes me as sketchy and disingenuous. I have no idea why an otherwise professional establishment would choose to do this kind of thing. It just leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. Anyway to sum all was great except for surprise fee.
