Having traveled from Alaska at 1 AM to Washington, D.C., Cafe Du Parc was delish. The potatoe leek soup and Cafe Du Parc salad with shimp was devine! #shrimplovers

This hotel is well known for its fabulous lobby and interior spaces. It is really a gem in terms of construction and interior décor. It is worth a look and I suggest you visit for a drink or tea but leave it at that. I found my stay here underwhelming and disappointing. I started my four-night stay thinking I would be giving this hotel a four star review, but every day something made it worse. 1) A not-significant fraction of the rooms is under the roof. We booked a junior suite and found ourselves on the 12th floor in what can only be described as bunker with portholes. The windows are small and round and leave you almost claustrophobic. The room we received is very different from how a junior suite is advertised on the web site, so there is certainly no truth in advertising. For the price one pays, this was seriously disappointing. 2) Housekeeping is dysfunctional. Each day at least one thing was missing after room cleaning. Sometimes there was no soap, most of the time our drinking glasses would be taken away and not replaced. One evening there was turn-down service, but other evenings there was not. When I mentioned this I was told I “had to request it.” Of course, nobody tells you that at check-in. It feels this hotel should come with a manual of all the things you should know and do. A light bulb was broken in our room, leaving it even darker. That took two days and two calls to replace. 3) Service in this hotel is insensire and devoid of good intentions. After check in one gets the classic text message checking if everything is OK with the room. When we bring up a few of the issues, all goes silent. Never a reply. I think it is better not to bother people with text messages if they are meaningless and devoid of any intention to resolve issues. At check-out nobody asked us about how our stay went. 4) At check-out a $35/day charge for amenities is added to the bill. Upon inquiry they told me that was for the “amenities the hotel provided”. Not sure what special amenities there were in the hotel, given that we didn’t even get soap or water every day. I was also told that this would have given me $20/day credit on food in the hotel café. This information would certainly have been more useful to know upon check-in, but again nobody seems the need to try hard in this place. The only really helpful people were the valets. So, it is certainly a fancy-looking hotel, but there are places in DC with much better service.

What an awful experience stuff rude. Service shocking. Breakfast inedible and a hefty price tag for the privilege would not recommend at all. Go somewhere else for the money this place charges. Many of the staff have a really bad attitude. Really bad representation of DC. .

The hotel was top notch and so was the service at the bar, restaurant and cafe. Martin was our server one morning for our breakfast and he was super friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this hotel!
