Ocean House

Serenely beautiful hotel which exceeded all of our expectations. Don’t get me wrong this hotel is very expensive and we booked the carousel suite because - it seemed to suit our family size and age of our children (17 & 19) and although perfect in every way was worth every penny for the experience. Upon arriving at the hotel which is not only stunning but immaculately presented we are greeted by exceptional staff members who really make this hotel stand out. We were guided to a lovely sitting area and offered refreshments, very welcoming after a long drive. We were kindly escorted to our suite by a lovely lady who went through everything. The suite was not only aesthetically beautiful but clean, HUGE and welcoming. We were greeted with a lovely welcome card, cheeseboard as well as an open bar. The Hotel arranged balloons and a cake for my daughter’s birthday and everything could not have been more perfect. A big thank you to Angie and the chef who sourced this! Bed linens were fresh and new as were the sumptuous bath robes and towels. The beds were extremely comfortable and the hotel was so quiet and peaceful for such a size. Gym was perfect as was the lap pool and both had wonderfully thought out amenities like protein bars, wipes and cool towels. A metal refillable water cup was provided for each guest in the room designed to be filled up around the hotel which was not only a lovely touch but super environmentally friendly. The Bistro was beautiful both food and exceptional staff. We particularly appreciated the hotels unique offer of using one of the BMW’s as our hire car was huge. The hotel has many gem qualities from the free pastries and coffees in the morning/ afternoon to the wonderful arranged activities. The whole ambiance of the place just exudes elegance and relaxation with incredible attention to detail. Some of the other guests did not adhere to the hotels dress code of resort chic which was such a shame as this hotel truly deserves respect. The beach area is beautiful and was very quiet (April!) outside areas were meticulously maintained even though out of season. I particularly enjoyed watching the black mink playing in the sand dunes each morning at the back of the hotel. We have stayed in many 5* hotels but this one really sets the standard for how a 5* really should be. The staff and wonderful touches really set it apart and I hope my family and I will return here one day!

What wonderful service given by Concierge Gaby! She was amazing! Though I did not stay here it was my daughters 40th birthday and requested that they decorate her and her husband’s room to celebrate this occasion. I had brought down 2 bags with specific instructions for both Fri and Sat decorations and party items to be placed in their room. She checked in with me to confirm my requests as well as notified me as to when they were completed. She was extremely outgoing, pleasant and very helpful in what I wanted accomplished for my daughter’s 40th. If the rest of the staff and facilities are as amazing as she is - you will be in for an amazing/wonderful experience at this establishment. I have been going to the Ocean House for years before and after the renovation. I have stopped going because of the pretentious pretense put on by staff and the advertising that hoodwinks the guests into believing a wonderful experience awaits. Purchased a gift certificate for my daughter and her fiancé to celebrate a special day--unfortunately, the experience they had the year before for their anniversary was not to be had. Indifferent service, subpar food, and lack of attention to my daughter's food allergy and the request they made four months prior for seating that wasn't honored just ruined their special day. They wanted that experience of a special day. I tried to tell her go somewhere else. My daughter spoke with the manager, and he could have cared less. He used excuses such as, "It's after the holidays and everyone is tired." Wow! In part, I am glad that their experience was terrible as it solidifies the hit or miss experience one can have at the Ocean House.

We were seated at a lovely window table in the Bistro. Our waiter was extremely attentive, friendly and helpful. We were treated to a glass of champagne and an amuse bouche to start. The charcuterie board was very large almost a meal and the calamari appetizer was also very generous. I would have liked a sweet- spicy sauce with it rather than the aioli. Steak frites were cooked nicely and the frites were hot and crispy. We never felt rushed and really enjoyed our meal and our waiter, who was from Indonesia( wish I remembered his name) made our experience all the more enjoyable

Another wondrous evening at Ocean House. The decorations are stunning and imaginative. We dined with several friends tonight and as always Robert made us feel like we were the only guests there. We also had Mema as our waitress who also did a stellar job. Mema took care of all twelve of us effortlessly. Thank you OH for wonderful dinners and five star service by these two exceptional employees. Will see you on Monday.
