Lovely historic hotel in an excellent location.
We really enjoyed our stay in this historic hotel - we occupied Room 211 which is a lovely bright room with excellent views over the hotel's patio area and a colourful park beyond.

Second time a charm
Classy hotel within walking distance of most sights travelers want to see. We booked a corner suite which faced the gardens next door. Room was quite and we had plenty of room to spread out. Bathroom was was spacious but lighting could have been better. Breakfast was great. Hotel staff was always willing to help. This was the 2nd time we have stayed at the Esplanade.

This is an excellent hotel with great service and very pleasant staff. Nice rooms, and amazing breakfast.

Just OK
Nice property with terrible bar and restaurant. Check-in was fast and professional. Nice, elegant and historical property. Nice room. Decent location. 25 minutes walking to great collection of restaurants , bars, museums… Bar - terrible. Waited 20 minutes then I asked if I could order a drink. The bartender said “I must wash these dishes first” - and he did. There were three people behind the bar and there were plenty of clean glasses. No understanding of customer service. Prices at the bar are 4-5 times more expensive than surrounding restaurants/bars. Restaurant - way overpriced. Countless great restaurants within walking distance. In summary nice place to stay but don’t waste your time with the bar or restaurant.

Grand Historic Hotel
We highly recommend this beautiful and historic hotel. The breakfast was delicious. The rooms are well appointed and quiet. The Conceirge was helpful with getting us train tickets to Ljubljana and with dinner reservations at the restaurant hotels which are needed if you want a table as they book quickly. The hotel is located nearby within a 15 minute walk to most highlights.
