Thompson Zihuatanejo

We had a swim up room that faced the ocean, the view was stunning. Our room had two showers and was nicely furnished. The bed was extremely comfortable. The Thompson is the nicest place to stay on La Ropa Beach. I did not give the hotel 5 stars as we did come across some minor issues. We were unable to get room service, some items in our room didn't work. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. We had at one point eaten Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner at the hotel. Breakfast and Lunch on the Beach were very tasty and well presented. Dinner had a beautiful ambiance, (we were sitting in the sand watching the magnificent sunset), but the meal was just average.

We have been to this hotel twice. Nicest hotel in Zihua, if you ask me. It is a small boutique hotel with beautifully moody modern rooms. We stayed in a swim up room the first time, which was good, but second time stayed in a lagoon suite on the second floor and it was absolute perfection. We keep trying to go elsewhere but just keep going back to Zihua. We have rented a villa, an Aparthotel, stayed in hotels in Ixtapa, and the Thompson absolutely shines. The service in impeccable, the food doesn't quite measure up to the rest of the hotel offerings, but it is ok. I don't go to Mexico for the Michelin star food. lol Make sure you secure sunbeds early. They are a hot commodity and often in short supply. I was actually really sick (something I ate) when I came here a couple of years ago, and the hotel staff took such good care of me. They have a doctor on call. She came to see me three times to check on me, gave me medicine, and the last time drove me to the hospital herself in her car where she gave me some much needed, iv fluids. She was an absolute angel and I felt a lot less anxious being so sick knowing I had a doctor caring for me. This hotel (and the people who work there) is top shelf. You won't find better in the region.

Terrific experience -- great service, food and facilities. Beach service (Thanks Juan!) made hanging out at pool and on beach super relaxing.

Our stay at Thompson Zihuatanejo was outstanding from start to finish. The beach was impeccably clean, our beachfront suite was spacious and beautifully designed, and the oversized shower and outdoor balcony offered truly stunning ocean views. We never used the plunge pool, as the beach and infinity-edge pool provided everything we needed. Breakfast each morning was delicious, and the resort staff & beach service was consistently attentive when needed. Overall, it’s an exceptional resort to truly relax and unwind. We will definitely return.
