Ok my husband & I have been coming to Cape May for 23 years and have never splurged on the Virginia Hotel before but I think they have spoiled us absolutely rotten. The vibe is accessible generational wealth with luxury and personalized attention at EVERY turn! If you have a special occasion to celebrate like surviving another day in 2025, this is the #1 place in Cape May, hands down. From the front desk at check in to the waiter Jay at breakfast, just top notch friendly service with a smile and the nicest people I have ever dealt with since Vince & Leslie retired from the Mooring. You will NEVER want to leave. Now the dinner was incredible and I think there’s a Michelin star chef (if not he really should be). I had steak that was cooked to perfection and served in a demi glace sauce like duck. The preparation & presentation was amazing. My husband had the chicken and is still raving about it. The star was also the dessert. It was a chocolate tart with berry sauce and it was like eating Godiva truffles in cake form with an amazing crust of perfectly ground nuts. The decor is absolutely exquisite. Again the decor makes the Virginia one of the most gorgeous hotels I have ever seen but it also is accessible and homey and not over the top. You feel like you’re staying in a rambling Rockefeller summer cottage with surprises and views at every turn. I literally don’t have anything to put on the con list. Normally I like to do a pro and con list but it’s impossible because there is none!! Run to your laptop or phone & book this place NOW!!!

The location is central. We stayed in their basic room, and it was great. They excelled in having an old school staff that was more proffessional than most places. Breakfast was complimentary and outstanding. The beach passes (which seems like a crazy NJ concept) are included and there were umbrellas and robes in the closet when we arrived. We also had very good martinis in the evening on the front porch which were covered by a hotel credit which came with room. This was an outstanding overnight experience.

The Virginia Hotel is set in the perfect place to see everything in Cape May. My wife and I have been there is almost every season over the last three years, and each has been a great experience. Winter is fun with all the Christmas decor, Early May you beat the crowds and you have the city to yourself and of course summer, even though the hotel is pretty well booked, you still feel like an honored guest. The desk staff is more than accommodating and friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the morning breakfast is enough to get you up and ready to go. Sometimes it is just wonderful to sit on the front porch and watch the world go by or meet some new friends who are staying at the hotel. You are a couple minutes walk to the beach where they have a private area with umbrellas and chairs. You are also just a couple minutes walk to the Washington Street shopping area that has most everything you could need....and it is also fun to people watch as you dine in one of the many sidewalk restaurants. The Virginia was build in the 1800's and completely refurbished to a modern day standard facility. We have always felt comfortable here and will be here again next year. They also have accommodations across the street in their "cottages" and we have heard good comments about them.

We stayed at the Red Cottage which is part of the Cap May Resorts properties and across the street from the Virginia Hotel. The check-in process was easy with included valet car service. The staff were all gracious, welcoming and helpful. The room (Windward) was lovely and quaint with just the right mix of old-world charm and modern conveniences. I would call attention to the fact that everything is a walk-up with stairs so if you have mobility issues, you would probably be better staying at Congress Hall. What I liked best was everything you would want to do was included. I mentioned the free valet service, but breakfast was very nice and could be taken in your room, on the veranda of the Virginia Hotel or inside the hotel in 1 of 2 places. Also included were beach passes for the entirety of your stay with chairs and towels and attendant service while there. We also had use of their free cruiser bikes which we took directly from the property to many locations otherwise a far walk away. Lastly, the proximity to both the beach and town is unmatched! You are literally 1 block in either direction from each. All in all, this resort is on the higher side of places to stay, but when you factor in the charm, service, proximity and included amenities, it's a GREAT VALUE!!

The Virginia Hotel is lovely, This was our first time staying there, though we have eaten at the Ebbitt room many times over 20 years. The Hotel has been redone and is beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 307 BUT...the principal purpose of a hotel is to sleep in! Room 307 has the outside spotlight on the Hotel sign blasting right into the windows. I went down to the front desk to see if this could be turned off (at 1 am), as I assumed it was on a timer. Had to call over to Congress Hall to see whether someone could shut it off (they couldn't). We even debated driving back to Pennsylvania (was just spending the night). We did file a complaint the next AM. And so by all means, stay at this beautiful hotel, just NOT in room 307
