Don't hesitate - book this resort!

Exceeded expectations - well worth every penny. We will be back for sure. The staff goes above and beyond at this resort and truly made this a memorable experience. The beach was spectacular, and the staff was always willing to setup our chairs and umbrellas each morning. Can't wait to return.

Instead of going from good to great it went from great to disappointing

Other than the service to our rooms, the overall experience was very good. Unfortunately, what we experienced with the cleaning of our room and the turn down service makes the overall experience disappointing. Food was good for the most part

Exceptional staff make it a five star!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

The friendly staff was the best part of our stay! There are multiple staff we would like to recognize for their outstanding service. Manuel, George, Francisco at the Reef swim up bar. They make amazing drinks, alway have a smile and they will remember your drink. They were truly amazing!!! At the waterpark I lost my prescription glasses and Andres let us borrow his goggles to look for them, and Adrian lifeguard rescued my glasses, I still can't believe he found them in the lazy river! Adriana at waterpark waiver desk always greeted us with a smile and she was a joy! Eduardo and Juan bartender's at the sports bar were amazing and so much fun! They were always friendly even when it was very crowded and made amazing drinks! Manuel activity Director is the best activity director and full of energy!!! He did an amazing job all week keeping us entertained and full of joy. Dioceses who helped in crafts was always very friendly and ready to assist us! Carlos one of our waiters was truly exceptional and by far our favorite waiter! Dianna Aria Concierge helped to make it a very special week for my daughters graduation by arranging special surprises in our room and even gave us complimentary meal at the Blind Butcher. She was so sweet making it such a memorable experience. We had a fantastic time, but everyone who I have mentioned is what made it a five star experience!!! Thank you to everyone I have mentioned, and I am sure there were some I am forgetting! From Melanie and Courtney (the white mom with the little Guatemalan princess;. )

Simply stunning - hard to fault

Genuinely the best hotel I've ever stayed in. The pool is 70m across, a perfect temperature, and with a swim up bar with a fantastic array of drinks. The pool side attendants couldn't have done more to look after us with a constant supply of drinks brought to our seats, setting out towels and umbrellas, and giving a friendly welcome each day. Dionica looked after us each day and was the very model of hospitality and friendliness. The beach is immaculate and there are a wide array of activities from beach volleyball and cornhole through to kayaking and taking out a small catamaran. The food options were exceptional with Brando's being the clear highlight and a big shout out to Raimy who made our meal there such fun. The reception staff were always on hand to answer questions with Miguel particularly standing out for going above and beyond. And the ents team were inexhaustible and such fun. Manuel never stopped smiling and had exactly the right balance between encouraging people to get involved but allowing people to opt out. Finally, the waterpark - which was awesome. We were four adults but we had a complete ball going down the sides and cruising round the lazy river. Overall a truly remarkable stay. Such beautiful surroundings and such warm and caring hospitality. I really hope we'll be back.

I enjoyed two nights/three days at the Zilara over Thanksgiving and found it to be the perfect mix of fun and relaxation. The rooms are modern and spacious (although the term "suite" is used loosely), with huge bathrooms, a well-thought-out closet and large balcony. The mini-bar offerings were kind of sad (M&Ms, tiny cans of beer and a couple of Cokes). Some of the decor in the room and throughout the resort looks like reclaimed plastic-- great idea, but so-so execution.

The buffet was full of delicious, unexpected delights and thankfully, not self-service. The French/Tahitian Brando's is worth the wait and don't miss the ceviche. The steakhouse Waves offers al fresco dining and my steak was perfect. The spa is out of this world. They have a large thermal circuit which is well worth the extra charge. A therapist manages your circuit and walks you from experience to experience. As a result, I did everything, and in the order it was intended. The public spaces are wonderfully designed and easy to navigate.

There are activities throughout the day, much like a cruise. It was fun to watch people doing cross-fit in the pool while I sipped my mimosa. Speaking of which, the pool service was attentive, which I didn't expect at an all-inclusive. Overall, drink quality was better than expected -- premium, but not top-shelf. Upgrading to the Club level is worth if if you want top-shelf liquor, as well as exclusive restaurants and pool. Unfortunately, the service did not extend to the beach, where it was impossible to get a drink and it looked like a gang of spring breakers had just departed after a kegger. Overall, great for people who want to relax without kids around, but also want the option to "do things" -- who like to drink and eat and not have to worry about the bill.
