We spent 12 nights at The Banyan Tree Phuket and had an wonderful holiday in a spectacular country. We arranged transfers with the hotel, whilst more expensive than a taxi they were waiting for us with a large mini bus with the appropriate child seats, so for myself it was worth the extra cost. Check in was swift and professional and we had paid for early check in so our room was ready at 9am (we had flown for 18 hours so didn't want to gamble on early check in). The room was a Grand two bedroom villa. We had two bedrooms, a third room with a sofa bed, a large living and dining area with kitchen, 5 showers, a huge bath, jacuzzi and private pool. Whilst the decor is a little dated compared to other 5 star resorts, everything else was as you would expect with a fully stocked kitchen and extremely comfortable beds. Staff cleaned the villa twice a day and were very professional and polite. The outdoor space was wonderful with a heated jacuzzi and large pool that we used every day. We absolutely loved the outdoor space and it will be impossible to find anywhere else comparable. We had breakfast included which was very good, lots of choice, fresh eggs and we found all the food to be off excellent quality. Our first couple of days the tea and coffee didn't arrive at breakfast and we had to chase them up but from the second day table service of drinks was flawless and the staff are all wonderful and very helpful. We did notice that there was a queue around 9:45-10am so I would recommend trying to arrive before this time (which we did) to avoid a wait on being seated. We ate in the Thai restaurant, the Banyan Cafe and had in room dining 3 times during our stay and found the food to be excellent. The Thai restaurant accommodated us without a booking on a night where a flash storm stopped us from heading out for dinner and the staff were wonderful and the food was superb. In house dining was always around 30 minutes and delivered hot. Although the price is a lot more than the cafe for a similar menu, it was still very good value comparable to UK dinner prices and the convenience of in room service is worth the additional cost. For lunch I ordered a supermarket delivery from Tops Online. You can create an account without a Thai mobile number and have a food delivery made to reception where the team would then bring it to our villa. I organised this through the Villa Whatsapp and the staff were fantastic every time. This meant we could remain by our pool for lunch and have a lighter, healthy option at a very low price. I believe the hotel will also deliver any ordered in food from Grab (Uber are not in Thailand but Grab are the same, taxis and food deliveries). The hotel sent golf buggies whenever we requested as it is a large resort and we were in room 843 which is a little walk from the main building. They also offer bikes which we took up after a couple of days and whilst the adult bikes were a little old the kids were new and enabled us to cycle around the resort rather than using the golf buggies, something my daughters absolutely loved doing. We used the gym once, but it was well equipped, quiet and perfectly cool. I was just too lazy enjoying our villa to return. The main pool was very busy and I would recommend going before lunch or at 4pm as there were no sun beds free at 2pm. Whilst it was very nice, having our own pool meant we only used it once during our stay. We were invited to complimentary cocktails on our first Thursday on the deck and this was a lovely hour where the drinks flowed freely with canapés and it was a very nice hour as the sunset. I would recommend attending this night when invited. The hotel uses a shared beach with a bus transfer, this is a lovely beach but the sunbeds are quite a distance from the water and with young children we spent all of our time in the sea. The local beach next to the hotel has towels and mats available and we preferred this to the 'official' beach as it was more natural and you could sit closer to the water to watch the children. There is a toilet block in the hotel by the beach too, so I would recommend spending some time here if you like a beach, we enjoyed a couple of afternoons here and it has a lovely atmosphere as the locals come down around 5pm. The hotel offers various excursions, we did booked the Songkran bus tour, which if you are visiting over Thai New Year in April, it brilliant. The hotel provided water guns and it was a hilarious 2 hours driving around the local area taking part in the water fight from the bus. We booked an elephant sanctuary and a boat trip to the Phi Phi islands directly based on reviews from Tripadvisor just so I knew we had good quality experiences but the hotel offerings were very competitive on price and had a good variety of options. There are shuttle buses to the edge of the resort where there are restaurants, these are infrequent and we never used them. We did used Grab to book taxis, these aren't cheap as you pay 30-500bht each way (£6-£10) depending on demand because it is the flat rate as it is a short distance in the car. The local area has some lovely restaurants but it isn't as cost effective as other towns as the Laguna area where the hotel is situated, is known for being expensive (for Thailand) but it was still good value compared to UK prices for a family of 4 to eat out. For our family this was a 5/5 holiday experience, the staff were wonderful, the food excellent and the room was one of the best we've ever had for space and facilities. I imagine at some point it was all get a refresh and updating of the decor but that shouldn't stop your considering this for your holiday to Thailand.

Had a very enjoyable stay at this refined, luxury hotel in a quieter part of Phuket. Our villa was extremely comfortable with all the amenities and luxuries you could ever require. Parts of the villa could probably do with some updating but this in no way detracted from our stay. The hotel facilities are top drawer, the restaurants and bars all provide a great experience (service is exemplary). Whilst our villa had its own pool we spent many days by the main pool also, here the service and little touches (regular water supplies, free ice creams and fruit etc,) really market the property out as putting service as a top priority. The level of customer service is in line with what you’d expect from such a high quality brand - perfect!

Stayed in a double pool villa for 5 nights. Despite we booked directly from the hotel, but were not told that there was a separate check in lobby for guests staying in double pool villa. So waiting in the main lobby for a while before our villa host appeared. Villa dated but environment was very nice. We came here to celebrate my birthday. Hotel was kind to send me a birthday cake. But it was not good as it was very dried as if it was a left over cake for many days. Sadly, we did not have much of the cake. Restaurants food was good. Not expensive. The bathtub in our villa was in a terrible state. Needed housekeeping to clean it several times. Tried the spa two times. It was ok nothing special. Pricey. When we checked out from our villa, there was a whole team of housekeeping staff coming to our villa to check if we have taken anything from the hotel. I found this quite offensive.

On arrival at this stunningly beautiful resort, we were greeted with a very warm and friendly welcome. The staff here offer impeccable service; always friendly, helpful, accommodating, and carried out with such calm, gentleness; directly from the heart. We dined at every restaurant and each time we were never disappointed. The food is of the highest quality and the best Thai we have ever had from ‘Saffron’. The chef is truly the best, so friendly funny, very welcoming and grateful. The water court where we dined for breakfast is the very best 5* I have ever had the fortune and delight to indulge. The variety of Thai, Japanese, Indian, Chinese, Western etc is extraordinary. Niwat, the Assistant Food and Beverage Manager was excellent. Perceptive to our needs, always attentive, couldn’t be more helpful and so lovely. Kwang the manager of The Banyan Cafe is just beautiful. Her service is second to none, expert professionalism, attention to detail and her ability to make guests feel very relaxed. We will never forget your beautiful smile and making us feel so very welcomed. Andy, the buggy driver was ‘gold’. His friendliness and service was impeccable. Always smiling, helpful and so lovely. Very special. To all the other big drivers who were consistently wonderful. The staff in general was the best I have ever experienced in a 5 * resort. Thank you Shane, Events Manager and Ado, Food and Beverage Manager, for your assistance and truly informative, helpful, entertaining chats that we enjoyed immensely. Top gentlemen. Thank you to the housekeepers who kept our villa immaculately clean and thank you to the gardeners who maintain the beautiful gardens. We love The Banyan Tree and will be back. Thank you so very much, with love and deep appreciation. Dawn and Ross Mitchell Australia
