As the sun rises and its rays majestically shine through the Parthenon, and the cool misty air of the Mediterranean warms to the day, wake to the luxuries of Divani Caravel Hotel. Looking out over the Acropolis of Athens, this fabulous hotel is near world-class shopping and many of the fabulous attractions of this dynamic Greek city. With a classic style, you will enjoy plush rooms that are spacious and bright, with large picture windows letting in abundant natural light. Enjoy a dip in the rooftop pool - covered and heated in winter - and gaze out over sweeping views of this picturesque and fascinating city. With your stay at the elegant Divani Caravel Hotel you will enjoy all the modern comforts and amenities, with the glorious history and contemporary delights of this fabled city just outside your door.

From check in to check out - the conference guest is treated with disdain. If you have travelled half way round the world there will be no iron - unless you are in an 'executive suite' - even when your reservations manager tells you to ask reception - don't bother you will be met with a firm NO. There will be a kettle and two stirrers - no cups, no glasses and lots of unpleasant exchanges if you dare ask for coffee, tea and the associated crockery to use with the kettle. The rooms are hot (most of the 250 attendees agreed), the breakfast staff are overwhelmed and if they don't want to get you a coffee on the third time of asking it is easier to go up to their station and get the pot yourself. The gymnasium is small and hot for the size of the hotel. It was very hit and miss with housekeeping - on one occasion when asking for more than one towel (two people in the room) the response - they had 'run out' and would an extra hand towel be ok?!!! sometimes the bathroom essentials were replenished, sometimes they weren't!! We couldn't wait to leave - and the check out apathy confirmed that we would not return by choice. Having stayed all over the world multiple times a year and been fortunate to stay in many 5 star hotels - this isn't one of them. The hotel isn't in the best part of Athens but there are few ok restaurants nearby - if you are on holiday go elsewhere in Athens. I do believe if you are a large impersonal hotel with 3 conferences and a thousand plus people - be set up for it. The result was disappointing and frustrating especially when you have travelled a terrifically long way. Customer service could be dramatically improved.

Superb hotel when staying in Athens! We visited with children and grandparents and the Divani Carval could not have been more perfect. A little away from the noise and bustle of the main centre but close enough to be very central when visiting the sites, which were a taxi, metro or walk away. Great big hotel in a lovely quiet part of Athens with great sized rooms and really friendly staff. The big rooftop pool with amazing views was a super amenity during our stay also. Would highly recommend staying here! A big thank you to Valentina in the lobby bar/restaurant for being so welcoming and kind during our stay!

Çok yardımsever, ilgili resepsiyon görevlileri özellikle Chiristos ve Ioanna, bizlere tüm seyahat süremizde yardımcı oldu, temiz oda hizmetide bizim için önemliydi. Lokasyonu birçok görülecek yere yakındı, tavsiye ederim ve Divani Caravel’ e teşekkür ederiz.

This hotel is outstanding in every way. Not only is it clean, modern and beautifully kept; it has a lovely atmosphere. I have no hesitation in saying that it is the staff that makes this hotel so special. A special thanks is necessary for Ignatius and Angeliki at the front desk. Both were superb and I miss them already! Professional, courteous and warm. If staying in central Athens, look no further. This hotel will not disappoint. Eve

During our vacation to Greece, much of which was booked through Luxury Link, we spent two nights at the Divani Caravel Hotel in Athens, Greece. Let me begin by saying that if you're looking for quaint, small, boutique, or dainty, the Divani will not, in any way, meet your needs. The Divani Caravel is an old school, in your face, mammoth construct reminiscent of Cold War era Russian buildings, but it has a special kind of charm nevertheless.
First off, the rooftop pool with a direct line of sight to the Acropolis is one of those experiences that will bring a smile to your face every time you remember it. The view was stunning, the weather was perfect, and the mojito we asked our bartender to make was exceptionally well prepared.
The suites we received were on the top floor of the hotel, and balconies opened up to arguably the best view of the Acropolis in all of Athens. It was stunning. Usually my wife is talkative, but as we sat on our balcony sipping some very respectable complimentary wine and watching the sun set behind the Acropolis, we were both silent, caught up in the beauty of it all.
The view alone makes the packages more than worth it, and if you happen to be into photography, bring a tripod, and go nuts with the long exposure night shots. I got some seriously gorgeous pictures, some of which I could readily print on canvas and sell, and no one would ever believe I went no further than the balcony of my hotel room.
The rooms are spacious, more like a one bedroom apartment sans kitchen than a conventional hotel room, and the suite we stayed in boasted of none other than Mikhail Gorbachev having slept there.
As ought to be the case with any five star properties the service was impeccable. Even with the strain of the recent turmoil, protests, and economic uncertainty, the entire staff from the desk clerk to the cleaning crew to the servers, were professional, polite, and seemed genuinely happy to be there.
Breakfast at the Divani Caravel is an experience. The buffet is better than most we had while traveling Europe, but the attention to detail is what sets them apart from other hotels. What we later concluded must have been the floor manager was efficient, and appropriately authoritative with her subordinates, so that everything from coffee to champagne to fresh rolls was no more than a nod away.
At a certain point in life I guess you come to appreciate cleanliness and efficiency with almost equal enthusiasm as you would taste and presentation, but thankfully the Divani lacked nothing in those areas either.
Yes, the entrance is imposing. It looks like you're going in to the Politburo of the old USSR to give a deposition or file a complaint, but once you get past the sheer mass of the Divani Caravel its charm is undeniable. Who said big things can't be beautiful?
