Anywhere is better than Alila Ubud
One has to manage their expectations when visiting the Alila Ubud. The rooms are small and old, there is no headboard, there is not sufficient space for 2 luggages, there is no privacy in the toilet as there is no proper door, there is no service magnifying mirror, the ceilings appear dirty or moldy, the cupboards are dark and small, the writing table dark and in the corner, there are no bedside tables, the flooring in the rooms is grey, the humidity is high, the air-conditioner in our room made noise all nigh etc. The stairs throughout the resort is neither elderly nor child friendly. It is certainly not an accessible resort. The gym is one of the worst I have seen. There is grey carpet, no lighting, it is small and the equipment is awful. It is depressing. There is no signature restaurant nor any air-conditioned restaurant. The European restaurant is more of a lounge by the poolside. The main Balinese restaurant restaurant is also the breakfast area. Monkeys visit whilst laying on the deck chairs and eating offerings even at the main restaurant. The property is old and thr facilities old. The property has the potential to be a luxury hotel but sadly is more of a 1 star, that given to the beautiful pool and the wonderful staff who try to compensate for the physical discrepancies. The poolside is definitely one of the better aspects of this resort. Also as it is so remote, 5 km from Ubud center, it was possible at the poolside lounge to get some work done. We checked out early as did our friends. Anywhere else is better.

Natural tropical luxury
A superb place to stay - location is spot on, a free shuttle bus into the town of Ubud - so you can experience the wonderful chaos of the town and it's way of life, then come back to the sanctuary of the hotel. Staff, food, location and scenery are wonderful. As the pictures you see on their site are spot on and previous reviews on how lovely this place is correct.

Loved my stay in Alila Ubud
I highly recommend this place for those looking to relax in Ubud and connect with nature!! Rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. My favourite part was the healthy food options they have. It was a wonderful stay and I’ll be coming back soon! :)

Not as good as other reviews!
All the reviews say how wonderful the staff are and how good the food is. This is true. But then we stayed in 3 hotels across Bali and Lombok and all locations were excellent for both. This hotel was our least favourite. Rooms were smallest of all hotels we stayed in and the most expensive. Pool is small for potential number of guests though some rooms have own pool. Water chargeable in restaurant..not made clear. Hotel forgot my birthday after making song and dance about celebrating it. Smoking allowed in the pool..yuk! Twice tried overcharging for drinks...always double check your bill. They also add service charge, then expect a tip..cheeky buggers! Hotel ran out of milk! There is a supermarket 15 minutes away! Perhaps our expectations were too high after the first 2 hotels, but this was the most expensive.

Perfect !!!
I would not change a single thing at this hotel. Staff were amazing and lots of them. Always there to help. Rooms were clean and comfortable, cleaned regularly, water and worked changed even on turn down. Restaurants were amazing. The views and grounds are out of this world. Perfect location for visiting Ubud.
