About the Hotel

Open your eyes to verdant tree-lined streets, a vibrant atmosphere embracing the arts, and the beautiful sunshine and weather of the Mediterranean, as you arrive at the Hotel Sofia. Located in the heart of Barcelona's bustling shopping and business center, and just minutes from the sea, you will experience this city in style. Plush rooms are bright and inviting, crafted with soft pastel tones and dark, rich wood furniture and accents. Sunlight streams through large picture windows, while city views and the Mediterranean in the distance will take your breath away. Luxurious bathrooms offer complete serenity, while all the modern amenities and services leave you feeling like royalty. Relax and enjoy all that Barcelona has to offer from the lap of luxury at the Hotel Princess Sofia.

Wake to a beautiful day on your first morning, and enjoy a fabulous breakfast at Contraste Restaurant or at iQ smart fresh food, with a menu carefully designed by a nutritionist. Venture out for the day to discover this amazing city, and start with a stroll down the famed La Rambla. Enjoy fantastic and eclectic shopping, vibrant street performances, and delightful cafés where you can sit, relax and people watch. Make your way to La Sagrada Familia, a magnificent temple designed by Anton Gaudi and begun in 1881, where you can marvel at its massive structure, which is still being constructed today. Continue on to Gaudi's psychedelic Park Guell, on a hill overlooking the city, and enjoy a pleasantly strange afternoon amongst serpentine benches, brilliant tile mosaics, giant decorative lizards, and gingerbread-styled houses. In the afternoon stop in at a lovely café for a true taste of Barcelona and enjoy fabulous fresh seafood and pintxos, the delightful tapas-styled local snacks. Take the rest of the afternoon to relax with a sail along the Mediterranean coast, or be moved by an astounding performance at the Gran Teatre del Liceu or L'Auditori. That night, return to the hotel for a well-deserved massage at AQUA Diagonal Spa, then enjoy a fun-filled dinner in the hotel's very own German Biergarten. At Hotel Sofia, every day is truly this magical.

Reviews for Hotel Sofia

Exceptional

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Incredible hotel, fantastic pool area and spa, cleaning staff were excellent on a daily basis and all other staff we encountered had a great energy and went over and above to help improve our experience. Metro was close by so easy links in to town or taxi rank outside entrance so cabs available at all hours. Buffet breakfast was delicious with a huge option and of a really high quality. A perfect 5 day stay!

Wouldn’t recommend the spa

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Overall hotel was nice, but my sink shot water at me after being dressed for the day. The spa… I would not recommend. Desk staff at the spa was rude, no instructions for the private room we paid for, no cava that we paid for till we were about to walk out of the spa and had to ask for ourselves. The biggest issue was the roach in the spa that I killed in the dark steam shower. I took my flashlight in because I didn’t know how it worked(no instructions) and saw a small roach running across the floor. Killed it and took a video of it and the room as proof.

Nice, modern hotel. A bit too much technology and the elevators need work.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Beautiful very modern hotel. The rooms are very technologically advanced and it was very hard to figure out how to turn on the lights or modify anything. Nice bathroom but crazy to have a clear glass door in the bathroom door to the toilet. NO privacy! I could not find the hairdryer. In there effort to make the room/bathroom sleak and modern, the hairdryer was behind the shoe shine equipment in the closet. Very nice tapas bar, Sofia. Great food, good service. Excellent breakfast buffet! The elevators are horrible and you frequently get a message to the effect of "no elevator available."

Not a 5 star exoerience at all!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We were staying here after a cruise. The check in was chaotic with many from our cruise checking in at same time. Since it was morning, they said the room would be ready at 3. When 3 came around, we asked and the reception guy said in 10 min in a not nice way. We went to sit down and wait. After half hour, my husband checked. They were having issues since they had over booked. At 4 pm, we were given a room. This hotel is very electronic. The elevators are computerized but VERY slow. Half of the time when we we called it, it would give us error message. Beds were lumpy. Definately not a 5 star experience.

Great experience! Definitely recommend

The Grand Hyatt surprised me and exceeded my expectations for a hotel. As a football fan and FC Barcelona fan, the location is amazing. It’s within walking distance from the Camp Nou. The hotel is very clean and very modern. The staff was friendly and helpful upon arrival and throughout my stay. Javier was great! The hotel is close to a metro station which made it very easy to navigate throughout the city.
