W Barcelona

I have stayed a the W many times and it is definitely slipping over time. The view from the higher rooms remains great and is the reason to stay there, the rooms themselves are tired and need renovating. Here is a summary of the experience: The service this time was terrible, I waited 15 minutes to get a beer at the pool bar and the staff (about 15 of them) were having a meeting, nobody even acknowledged me and after the meeting finished i had to wait some minutes more until i was eventually served. The next day i cancelled a drink after waiting 10 minutes for it. We made the mistake of paying for breakfast. The hotel really struggles to cater for allergies. We know from experience if you spend a LOT of effort complaining they can eventually get if right but this time after a bad experience on day 1 (yet again) we just gave up. 1 day we returned to our room at 5pm and it hadn't been made up, not good enough for a 5 star hotel. We were asked by staff more times if we were staying at the hotel then if we would like a drink. One of the ladies on the front desk has a real attitude problem, not only was she rude, demanding and bossy the first time we spoke to her but on a second occasion when we were speaking to her (very helpful) colleague she walked over to reignite the argument she had started the last time. It's unbelievable the hotel supports this kind of behaviour, it's unbelievable it goes on in the lobby. After many years of visiting the W it's finally reached the point we are looking for alternatives

We recently returned to W Barcelona for our second visit, and once again, everything was absolutely wonderful. A big part of what made our stay so special was Mirko, who checked us in. From the moment we arrived, Mirko was kind, welcoming, and truly made a fantastic first impression. He went out of his way to make sure my parents were comfortable while we were checking in, which meant a lot to us. His attention to detail, warmth, and professionalism set the perfect tone for our stay. Thanks to Mirko, the experience felt seamless and even more enjoyable. Everything about our visit was great, but Mirko’s exceptional care and hospitality truly stood out. We’re so grateful and can’t wait to return again!

We stayed at the W for 3 nights over Easter and had a great time. We booked the most basic type of room but still ended up on the 9th floor with views of the marina. Positives:- - Great beachfront location - Large, very comfortable room - Good sleep quality - Plenty of bars/restaurants on site - Great views (particularly if you have a beach view) - Staff were all great. - Walkable to the old town areas of the city. Negatives:- - Check in wasn't great as our room still wasn't ready at 3 and it took until almost 4 for our luggage to arrive. - I didn't like the lack of privacy regarding the toilet, being that it was situated in a flimsy glass box. - It was quite a lively hotel and you were constantly required to show your room key to get past security at the various entrances. Before booking, familiarise yourself with the W brand and make sure that the vibe is for you. However, despise reading some negative reviews, we were pleasantly surprised. Dated decor? Maybe a bit, but not really a major concern. NB - a cab from the airport is around €42.

Parfait. Établissement exceptionnel, magnifique, grandiose et propre. Une vue incroyable. Literie haut de gamme. Personnel toujours aux petits soins. Service sur-mesure et très réactif. Grand merci Mr Mirko pour son professionnalisme.
