3rd stay here, fantastic hotel. Kanokkun at the pool side bar makes the best pina coladas in Queensland 😘 Friendly staff with a smile, nice quiet relaxed atmosphere. Everything close by to hotel including day trips and reef experiences 👍🏼👍🏼

The most insulting and hurting situation with Mr.Rowan. Details as below .. 1) We checked in today at Shangrila Cairns. Horizon club suite 13. 2) The room was extremely dusty. Had to waste lot of our time to get a cleaner to clean the room. As we were tired from travel, went to sleep. 3) In the evening - My son had itching on his feet and hands, due to the dust mites. After lot of difficulty, had a laundry person to help change the linen who wasn’t sure if its duty to help us. He was contacting reception for help. 4) The lunch tray was removed but the table wasn’t cleaned. There was a fruit platter on the table, suddenly a lizard popped out of it. I had to call reception again for help as this scared the hell out of us . 5) Mr. Rowan on walkie talkie with the cleaner , was shouting saying “why is she calling”. This he repeated multiple times ! . 6) I was really hurt , and called the reception again , on how he can repeatedly say that instead of being sorry for the situation. He argued with me saying why I called the reception ! I said I had to call to raise a complaint ! He says the cleaner will deal with the situation and I shouldn’t call the reception !! Is this a 5 star hotel hospitality level ???????? Is this the cleanliness level of a 5 star hotel ????

Shangri-La The marina was amazing. Nice and clean and rooms are nice and spacious with attached balcony. They also have swimming pool and gym facilities and some shops and restaurants in the hotel. You get complementary water bottles tea and coffee. Lovely spot right near the port to go to green island and other attractions the night market is just a few minutes walk away!

Very dissatisfied and disappointed in this hotel. It is our first time staying at Shangri-La and we had anticipated a higher standard for this hotel. Room is not in great condition, furniture stained and soiled, found top of razor in shower and it is clearly evident that cleaning is not a priority. We booked a Horizon club class room with the anticipation of a higher class room. Cleanliness and upkeep is very poor and we were very dissatisfied and disappointed in this hotel and would not book here again.

Overall, I liked this hotel. It doesn’t have the pizzazz of hotels in Sydney and Melbourne but it does offer a very comfortable stay. The rooms look like they have been refurbed and while a little basic are comfortable, tidy, well appointed and offer nice views across the harbour. The breakfasts are very good and most of the staff are very helpful, especially the front doorman/concierge from England who is simply excellent. Unfortunately, we were there during the wet spell, which can made the hotel a little dreary, design issues of its older design.
