The hotel is absolutely beautiful! The room was clean and lovely. The lobby is welcoming and a fun place to sit and enjoy the environment. Diane gave us excellent customer service! She is always gracious and kind. The food is delicious in the restaurants as well.

Multiple Service Failures--General Manager Doesn't Bother to Respond

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Multiple service failures as noted below. I sent an email to the General Manager and Front Desk Manager and neither bothered to respond. --Reserved room was not available and we were told we could get a king bed if we paid $125 more per night. --The hotel was not going to honor our rewards program until I showed them an email that said we were entitled to a free upgrade. --Our room on the Club level did not have housekeeping service. I had to call down twice to get the room serviced. --The Thoroughbred bar was closed at 10 pm due to "emergency water service." The hotel knew about the shutoff two days earlier but did not inform the guests. --The internet was spotty and slow. Glad we didn't have to pay for it, because I was able to show it was free with our rewards program. --When we went to checkout, I called the Guest Service line to get a bellman. It rang ten times and no one picked up. --I asked for the GM's email address to let her know about the issues and was told I had to send an email to the Front Desk Manager, Evan Esparza, and "he would forward it to her." I got the GM's executive assistant's email, Chelsea Powell. I sent an email to both on the Monday immediately after my stay and they had still not responded by Friday. It's very disappointing that a hotel that highlights it guest service has all these service failures and doesn't even respond to guest concerns.

Exceptional experience at a beautiful venue.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

A beautiful venue managed by an excellent staff with superior rooms, cleanliness, food, presentation, and event execution. Would go there again 1000 times over for future personal or business stays. I hope we have the opportunity to return one day soon.

Great Hotel Stay!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Excellent hotel with great staff. Highly recommended! The hotel is very clean, well presented, ample space for conference rooms, and the staff always greets you with a smile. I would definitely return to this location given the opportunity.

I traveled with my family (husband, and two children ages 2 and 4) on a Luxury Link auction package to Charleston Place in August. True good service is making travel effortless for the visitor, and Charleston Place delivered. There was no problem in bringing our children. We arrived about an hour before official check-in, but our room was ready and keys were given. Concierge had pre-printed directions to many of the sites. Finally, our Luxury Link credits for spa and dinner was automatically applied at check-out, so the check-out sheet that I received the morning of departure already had the correct amount that needed to be charged. Effortless! The Club floor included an expanded continental buffet breakfast, as well as drinks and finger foods throughout most of the day. This was very convenient and the breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres were particularly extensive. What makes Charleston Place stand out from myriad other places to stay in Charleston - many more historic or quaint or intimate - is the amenities offered. The pool with surrounding deck and kiddie pool is a very pleasant spot. The spa treatments were wonderful and very professional. Dinner at Charleston Grill was our favorite meal of the trip. The flavors were complex and fresh - this is not your typical fried and heavy Southern cuisine. I can see Charleston Place appealing to business travelers, couples needing pampering, families with older children, and yes, families with young children. All in all, a service-oriented hotel in a wonderful location with superior amenities and appealing to many different types of travelers.
