Important - The Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian has recently been renamed to The Caledonian Edinburgh, Curio Collection by Hilton. The Caledonian Edinburgh is currently undergoing renovation expected to be completed early 2025. The transformation of the hotel is already well underway and is taking place over a phased approach to ensure we can continue to operate as business as usual.
The Caledonian Edinburgh is one of Edinburgh's most significant and recognizable landmarks. Standing proudly at the west end of Princes Street, the heart of the capital, its reputation for style and excellence has attracted generations of locals, international visitors and notable personalities for over one hundred years. Built in 1903 and formerly part of the grand Caledonian Railway, the hotel is full of memories, including Peacock Alley which represents the historic heart, once the station concourse and ticket office. Surround yourself with heritage and over 100 years of hospitality, and become part of our story.

Beautiful hotel but be prepared if you are driving, it was not an easy hotel to access in order to check in or drop off luggage. I booked this hotel specifically for the convenience and safety of onsite parking but upon my arrival, I could not pull up to check in and I was advised that the hotel garage was being 'renovated' and unavailable. In addition to this, the entire front entry was blocked by a film crew. I was instructed to park at a public parking garage a block away and I would be reimbursed for 1/2 the cost! Just imagine trying to bring all your luggage from a parking garage a block away by yourself. Besides the difficulty, the safety risk of doing this by myself in a dark parking garage in a large, unfamiliar city, I'm now having to pay for the parking. I was never sent a email or notification of any sort advising me to be prepared for this change to my stay. This is a fairly expensive hotel and I chose it for these amenities but apparently they can fail to provide any amenities and not notify you or compensate you. The staff are great but I found the dining to be average for the expense. Disappointing for the price I paid.

As a Diamond Hilton Honors member who has stayed at countless hotels around the world, I can confidently say that my recent experience at the Caledonian Hilton in Edinburgh was truly extraordinary — one of the finest examples of hospitality I have ever encountered. Even before my arrival, the hotel’s staff impressed me with thoughtful, proactive communication, sending several helpful emails to prepare for my stay. It was an unexpected and much-appreciated touch that set a welcoming tone before I even arrived. The hotel itself is simply stunning — elegant, historic, and immaculately maintained — but what truly elevates this property is its exceptional team. Every staff member I encountered was warm, professional, and genuinely passionate about delivering outstanding service. During my stay, I faced an unexpected medical issue, and the care and compassion I received from the team were overwhelming. James, in particular, went far beyond his duties, even staying past his scheduled hours to assist me. I am also deeply grateful to Nathan, Danny, Sam, Michael, and Georgia, who frequently checked in and made me feel sincerely cared for during a difficult time. A special mention goes to Lucas, who manages the dining area with grace, professionalism, and an inviting, personable manner. Every meal was a pleasure, enhanced by the beautiful live harp and piano music — creating a truly magical ambiance. Dining at The Court was a highlight of my stay: the food was delicious, the atmosphere charming, and the prices very reasonable. This hotel strikes that rare balance between refined luxury and a true "home away from home" feeling. I left Edinburgh with not only beautiful memories of the city but also a deep appreciation for a team that exemplifies hospitality at its very best. To the management: please recognize the outstanding efforts of your incredible staff — they made a lasting difference in my journey. Final Tip: Be sure to book spa services ahead of time, as the spa hours are currently limited due to construction. However, the pool and hot tub are readily available and absolutely wonderful. I highly, highly recommend a stay at this remarkable property and look forward to returning soon!

Elegant traditional hotel with magnificent views. You couldn't ask for better location or better service. It appears it was formally a Waldorf and many of those high quality amenities remain even with the Curio title. The restaurant provides great cocktails and dining options as well.

Very nice hotel in the middle of everything. Neat, clean, and awesome staff. The concierge Jay was the most informative, honest, friendly guy we met in Edinburgh. Jay had the answer for every question we had. He and all the staff were friendly, yet professional. As a Gold Hilton honors member and an Amex Platinum holder, I will absolutely let these companies know what a nice place the Caledonian is, with a guy like Jay.
